I'm chasing some modern set builds, some parallel set builds, and some insert sets [1995-2021] and I have some player PC's.
One of my chases is master 2012 Topps Flagship baseball, inserts, parallels, the whole enchilada, and the Topps sets with the same design [2012 Topps Opening Day, 2012 Topps Chrome, 2012 Topps mini, 2012 Topps update, mostly the base and parallels.]
I didn't intend to collect the 2012 Topps Chrome Dynamic die cut Refractors insert set. Insert rate 1 per 24 [1 per box] I had a couple cards, which included the Mike Trout, and that was good enough. I didn't have these cards on my want list.
But, along came an ebay auction for the 49 of the 50 card inset, with "only" missing the Trout. And a good deal at minimum bid $15 + $15 shipping + tax. If I buy it, I'll have the compelete set. I wasn't going to get in a bidding war, so I entered $16 as my best bid. I won it for $33 all in, and have in hand. BV on this set is $3 / card average so about $150 +/- without the Trout [ebay RC, though not TCDb RC, as this group don't count inserts as RC's.] Though, also, the Trout card does not have the RC logo.
Feeling good to have picked this up, though not building it one card at a time, via show buys, and trades, and so on. A little bit of "cheating" buying an almost complete set.
