A new record for receiving one of these eBay envelopes today. Showed delivered on Jan. 17 and didn't arrive until today. In the past, I've only had to wait a day at the most after it showed as delivered. Eight days is a bit much, made more frustrating by the fact that I paid $5 for shipping.

I just spent the better part of this week dealing with this issue. Both myself and the seller went to our respective local post offices and were told the same thing; there are no scannable bar codes on the package and ESUS tracking number is not a USPS tracking number. The only feasible explanation, in my opinion, is that Ebay shipping is using what are called "Logical Scans". This means, based on the logistical engineering done by USPS, to show where the shipment "Should Be" at a particular time. None of the tracking we see on our Ebay Order Details page are physical scans. When I worked at UPS we used a combination of logical AND physical scans to track the progress of a package. Logical scans generally only happened when large numbers of packaged flowed through a sorting operation and are unloaded from one truck and later reloaded based on the engineered flow to another truck.

I get that quite often it is mostly due to staffing issues at the post office. They are not scanned when delivered unlike regular packages, but at the post office they are scanned through. And because locally we have a shortage of carriers some stuff doesn't get delivered the day they get scanned. We have had a few days where we didn't get any mail for 2-3 days at all in my neighborhood. It depends on the carrier and the volume but if we are on the tail end of the route and it gets too late in the day (here between 8-9 pm) we get skipped and have to hope the next day they have time to get our mail out.

I have had 6 eBay envelopes that were mailed around December 26th not show up. All were scanned in and have “disappeared” at some stage of the process. All mailed from different areas of the country. The interesting thing is, I have ordered about 14 cards in the last two weeks and all have arrived very quickly. Go figure!

I'm a mail carrier and I can confirm that we can't scan the eBay tracking number nor do we hand key in the number. So until eBay comes up with an actual barcode we can scan, I suspect these problems to keep happening.
As someone that frequently buys cards from eBay, I've also had delays with delivery.

So is this strictly an issue with the eBay USPS envelope or is it across any eBay shipping? While I'm not selling cards on eBay, I am selling off other collectibles. I've thought the eBay tracking was a bit sketchy for packages, but so far, no bad feedback on any. So, maybe okay?
