It is ironic that we have another active thread that is praising customs while we have this thread slamming these.
Now personally, the cuts that I looked at weren't very appealing, but if someone made some of players we really like, and they looked really good, I might consider $1 or $2 for them. $20-ish is way too steep a price, even with the "handiwork" that has been done. (And especially in the case of the ebay seller linked in the OP, the handiwork looks like they took about 5-10 minutes per "ornament", max, or was done by a typical 5-year-old, not an artistically-gifted one.) If they were round like old-fashioned Christmas tree balls or even shaped like Christmas trees, snowflakes, or symmetrical snowmen, they would have more eye appeal (IMO). The blob shapes just doesn't do it for me. Makes it look like they had damaged cards and was trimming of the damaged areas.
So, in my opinion, not a terrible idea, just very poorly executed in the case of the seller that was pointed out in this thread.
