I have card shop about 6.5 miles away from me in northern Los Angeles (Eagle Rock), CA. I don't go there very often but when I did they have plenty of sports cards products. Their website give the impression that they mostly deal in Pokemon/MTG-type product.
My go-to LCS is 12 miles away in Monrovia, CA. I almost always get a spot in their flagship and Heritage group breaks. And I've been going to their Topps flagship baseball rip parties since 2012 (except for when there were work conflicts). They'll be having a Topps Series 1 Rip Party on Saturday Feb. 18 but I'll have to miss it due to having to work a Monster Jam event at Angel Stadium--D'OH!

There's an LCS two blocks down the street from me. It was a half hour away but it recently relocated. I've been there once - paid $33 for two packs of 2022 Topps baseball and three pack of 2022-23 Upper Deck hockey. I don't plan to go again any time soon.

I feel pretty lucky to have a few shops within an hour's drive. I've been able to go once every two to three months. I typically hit the card store when I'm specifically interested in sorting through singles or looking to buy a hobby box.
My closest LCS has stopped carrying most supplies other than toploaders, so I pretty much get supplies online, or at least from the local game shop.

Collecting White Sox, Royals, and 1978 Topps Baseball. Trying to build a multi-sport HOF frankenset. Done is better than perfect.

We have 2 LCS in my area. one is about 5 mins a way on my way to and from work. Owner is great, great selection of new and vintage. We have another shop in the area that does a lot of memorabilia and slabs..... not my cup of tea.
I have been known to drive 4 hours or so to Boise once or twice a year to check out a shop there, or 2 1/2 hours north to Spokane to visit one there, but only if i am already headed that direction.

The closet LCS to me was 45 minutes away and they closed their doors at the end of January. It was in the opposite direction of literally everywhere else I go so I would only make it there once or twice a year. I do however make it a point to look up and visit LCS anywhere I go. I travel to Columbus and Cleveland often enough and am always looking to visit or revisit shops in those areas. I was really spoiled growing up in my small town, we had the best little card shop that was run by most gracious man I ever met. I would spend almost every weekend as a teenager in there going through his box of commons. He used to joke with me that he could sell me anything if it was Cleveland Indians (and he probably wasn't wrong). I bought so much over the years from him that eventually he was that he was only charging me 25% to 50% of his sticker prices. In addition to my Cleveland collection I credit him for selling me my 65 Willie Mays, 66 Aaron, and 68 Mantle.

I think I am rather spoiled by the amount of LCSs around me. 5 within 20-25 minutes of work and another 40 minutes away. My problem with these most of these shops is they don't exactly carter to what I like to collect. I not buying new boxes or packs. I want $1 and under boxes to dig thru. Which they have, but they are full of 2019-current and not worth my time.
There is one store that has a vast selection of older cards, but unfortunately prices at the register. Which is not only extremely slow, but based on only the highest of ebay prices.

The last couple of times I visited the local card shop was more than twenty years ago and I am not sure it still exists as such. The store4 was called the “Cats Pause” and was located in Lexington, KY. While noted for selling lots of U.K based items they also sold trading cards. If you were lucky Caywood Ledford would be "in the house", and you could get in on some interesting discussions from the man who called many U.K. football and basketball games on the Wildcat network. There was another that had started up shortly afterwards, but they were unwilling to even consider trades so only checked them out twice before shopping there anymore.
With Lexington being forty miles away now hoping to satisfy my needs here at TCDb.
Also want to give a shoutout to svenny!
