I have tried very hard to understand the difference and my eye is not keen enough.  Can anyone give me seme tips?  I want to catalogue what i have.  If it helps, i pulled these from a blaster and from a Hobby box. 

For this product, the xfactor has a square pattern in the refractor background.  The prisms have an alternating triangle pattern.  Hold the card at different angles in good light and it will be obvious.  
 

You can also go to eBay and type in both and there are lots of good clear pics of each.

I don't know if X Fractor came in Hobby or not. I have purchased Blasters, Hangers, and Mega. The only product that had X in it were the Retail Mega. Blasters and Hangers contained only Prism and no X. They are very distinct from each other though, to me anyway.

XFractors are retail mega exclusive, so if you're pulling from blasters and hobbies, you have Prism.
