This was the first time I've been to a card show since I was a kid. Boy was I disappointed! First it was in Nashville, TN and it was held inside a school gym. The temp that day was in the mid 90s and they decided not to turn the AC on? Yuck! Well I didn't know what to expect since it had been a long time but man oh man I could have spent hours there trying to find something I needed. Everyone was sweating like we were actually playing a sport. I couldn't hang around too long so I spotted one table and the guy had a 2020 Elway Canton Cloth jersey card # to 10 so purchased it for $40 and bailed. I wanted to feel like I got something out of my trip. I get back to the car and I go to look at the few cards that I purchased and realize the sleeve the Elway card was in was too big. The card just fell right out of the sleeve and on to the floor! I retrace my steps but that thing is long gone. I know I should have put it in my pocket or something but I had some loose cards as well so I wasn't thinking clearly. Just curious has anyone else ever done something as stupid as I just did? Haha

That stinks. Hindsight is 20/20 but you should always carry some sort of bag or something large enough to carry your purchases in.

I've never had that happen before. I have left a card or two at a table before. Thankfully I only work with a handful of reliable dealers so at the next show they told what happened and gave me the card(s) I left behind. I do always bring a box with me to put what I purchase in there straightaway now.

The closest I came was just a few weeks back. I bought 4 cards at a small show in a local shopping mall. I usually bring a bag with me but forgot that day. Whilst walking to the exit thankfully Mrs Gunny noiced that I had dropped the cards on the floor. Oops, I picked them up and thankfully nobody got hurt.

When you started disucssing the AC I wasn't sure which way you were going with that. A lot of times with school facilities, the mantenance department would control everything so the people running the show may not have had any control or even any say on whether the AC gets turned on or not.
As for the lost card, that really sucks. If I plan to buy a lot I will bring a backpack with several plastic cases to put the cards in. I'm a very paranoid person so I tend to check a lot if I've lost anything. As a result I tend to find things more than lose them. Just this weekend I was walking and found a pokemon card on the ground, litterally in the middle of nowhere. It was clean and undamaged. Not sure where it came from or who's it might of been but my daughter was thrilled as she didn't have it. Another time I found a whole box of magic cards outside my local game store. I asked inside if anyone lost them, in that case it turned out that the owner of the shop dropped the box and didn't even realize he'd lost it. He was so thrilled I returned them he gave me a bunch of card storage boxes on the house as a reward.

The air condition situation is was rediculous. They have this show twice a month every month. As for the card.... one sold for $45 on Ebay which is why the guy sold it to me for $40 (claims he always sells under sold prices on ebay.) There is only one listing like it on ebay right now lol.

Not lost, but I did have a seller ship a loose card in a bubble mailer. Not realizing this I cut a tiny sliver off the corner of an extremely rare prototype I will never find again when I cut the mailer open with a scissors. Could have been worse, it is almost unnoticeable (could have been in half) but it still bothers me and was an very hard lesson learned.

My girlfriend cut a bubble mailer open the other day and cut a hole right through a t-shirt that was inside.... As for cards, I do remember buying some toploaders as a kid at the kiosk at a mall about 40 minutes from my house and getting home and realizing I left them sitting on the kiosk. Mom wasn't taking me back to get them, lol.

This is why I always get a little anxiety opening packages with cards in them. I always fear that I'll damage the card.
A couple of people I've traded with here wrapped the cards so well that I felt like I had to perform surgery to get the cards out without wrecking them. Gives me a slight panic attack every time.
I did have the opposite happen to me in which I sent a card I sold on ebay and it was destroyed in the mail. The post office returned to me half the mangled envelope. I'm not sure what they did to it but it was trashed. The card was MIA so I refunded the guy his money and told him that if by chance the card ever did arrive then lucky for him and he could keep it.

Over the years I have lost my share of cards. Lucky no high dollar cards.
A few years ago I when to a show that they had no A/C. Yes that was a bummer as it was a small building with a lot of people.
As far as being disappointed at shows, For the last few years I have been disappointed that I can not find cards I want. The dealers know me and know what I collect. They just forget to bring them (what they say) I do have a good time talking to everyone. That is the main reason I keep going. I feel lucky if I spend $20
