It has been stated in other threads that without people leaving hopnest feedback, the feedback becomes useless.
I would ask you, on the behalf of anyone who might think of trading with these certain individuals, please leave the feedback. Keep it 100% honest, factual, and avoid opinionated speech in the feedback. That's the advice I have for everyone regarding feedback.

I shouldnt be worried about retaliatory feedback but it's happened before to me twice. I believe there should be a feedback system like ebay with trade id #s so anyone cant just leave feedback. I could leave you a negative and i dont believe we have ever traded. I talk about it on my profile page.
Even if it was over a year ago i should still leave it is what you're saying? thanks for the advice

There is a "New Feature" in the tracker for allowing for feedback responses. Hopefully that can be implemented soon, and people will feel more comfortable in leaving honest feedback.
As for requiring a transaction to leave feedback, there are also all sorts of ways around having anything of substance to jack up a feedback rating, and if I choose to do a 300-card for 300-card trade (blind lots) through messages rather than the transaction manager, why should I not be able to leave feedback for such an exchange? Or a sale only listed in the forums?

I actually read through the feedback when I'm trading with someone I haven't traded with before. I've traded with those that have had negative feedback left as I could see th traders entire history and make a judgment call. Hasn't failed me yet.
As for this line " I could leave you a negative and i dont believe we have ever traded." I actually saw negatiev feedback for someone for a trade that never happened; the poster even stated as such. Left negative feedback because the receiver didn't respond within 48 hours or some BS like that Really? I made note to never tade with the person who left the feedback. I did trade with the person who had the negative left. In fact, it was the first trade that person ever completed. It was a great trade and we another before I shut tading done.
As Dan said, leave feedback. Smart traders will read everything and can see through BS feedback left on you.

What is fairly stupid of some of the traders who scam, in order to send the cards we end up with their mailing addresses. Because it is all done through the mail it would be considered mail fraud which is punishable by up to a $250k fine and up to 5 years in prison (not sure if it has to hit a specific dollar amount or not).
If you are upset about a scam trader enough the next step is to file a complaint with the post office (they have a form which I've seen mentioned on ebay but I can't recall it's specific name) and to file a report with your local police department. If only one person files a complaint they most likely wont do much because it's one person's word vs another, but once you get 3 or more people filing out complains against the same person, they start taking it more seriously. Worst case, if it's only you filling out the comlaint, they may give a call to that person's local police to knock on the door and question them which may scare them enough to stop them from scamming anyone else.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

The USPS will respond to claims of mail fraud, but some claims take precedence over others. The main problem with bad trades is that the package isn't insured for the "value" of the cards. If the "value" was listed on a shipping form, then the USPS pays attention to that. But 1st Class Parcel, and even Priority Mail don't ask for that info in the US. The insurance is only for a max of $50. Package value is required for international package shipments, but not 1st Class mail for international shipping. I believe your "punishment" numbers only fall under the "grand theft" category, which is a $1,000 loss or greater. BUT, you are right that you can get the PD local to the recipient to investigate. But your only proof of them owning something from you is if it had a serial number on it (or a specific blemish) and you also have scans/pics of what you sent out as proof of what the police should be looking to recover.
All the more reason to use tracking numbers, and exactly why I don't use PWE to send my cards to someone else. I want people to treasure what I am sending to them even more than I enjoyed owning those cards, but I'm not going to get ripped off. In 16 years of trading online, I've been ripped off once but the other person eventually came back and made it right (that was a bad Beckett trade). Sending PWE, I lost 4 base cards I PIF'd to someone trying to complete a set (on the NUTS site) due to them getting stolen from the envelope while the PWE and toploaders still got delivered. And on the receiving end, I had a PIF to me get very creased when the whole PWE envelope got destroyed in sorting. I consider that a fantastic record for about a thousand trades, sells and purchases since 2006. The only time I've ever had a major issue with the USPS is when I ordered a TCDB T-shirt that has still not arrived after nearly 3 years. TCDB filed the insurance claim against the USPS and also refunded my money. No harm and no foul for the buyer or the seller. But I still wish I had that TCDB shirt I ordered.
