I won an eBay auction 2 days ago for a Donruss Downtown Drew Brees. Not exactly cheap. The seller marked it as shipped and gave me a tracking number. Todau I got a notice that the transaction had been cancelled by the seller and I would get a full refund. IN 3-5 DAYS. Never in my 10 years on eBay has something like this happened. Has it happened to anyone else? Are there any recources I can take?

If you paid by credit card, that sounds about right. Paypal is usually 1-3 days

I've had auction wins cancelled quite a few times. Never after marked shipped. They were all cases of me being the only bidder. I keep my eye on the seller. Many times the same card is put back up for auction or sale; at a higher starting bid/price.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

And make sure to report them to Ebay if they try this.

i just had two different transactions from two different sellers get jacked on Marvel cards. They were very new to ebay or new accounts, but never shipped, poor communication and i was given refunds on both.
I didnt pay attention to the refund time, but i guess becuase i worked retail for so long i expect that on refunds.
I dont believe the money comes out on your purchase right away as well, so they use that as reasoning in the 3-5 day rule. Now if it were a debit with instant release of funds on your end, then you should be able to argue that the money needs to be put back immediatly.

The 3-5 days is going to be the new norm on eBay because they are having their sellers use eBay Managed Payments now. Managed Payments is so slow that many times, as a seller, the buyer has the item in hand before I actually have the money in my bank account.

I see that alot. I have had sellers start something low to generate interests but when the intersets is not there they will cancel after the auction ends. And complaining to eBay does nothing as long as you get a refund. It used to be eBay considered a finished auction a binding contract but not anymore. Now seller or buyer can cancel for any reason or for no reason at all.

more and more sellers do that when they don't get what they for the card. sometimes others will message them offering more and it will be done through other means or i actually caught someone relisting the same under another name a couple days later at a much higher price. either way.. canceling the order is just totally unethical under those or similar terms.

Had this happen to me too. Sellers are able to pull tracking numbers through the eBay shipping program (whatever they call it). They then can mark it as shipped and let the card sit on the self, for me it was around 2 weeks. I'm thinking what's up with the postal service. Then the seller cancels and issues a refund. Seller is credited the shipping fee. As someone else mentioned, eBay could care less, you got your refund. The only real thing you can do is through feedback and never buying from them again.

Had the same thing happen to me today. Bought 14 cards from a high-volume seller a couple of days ago. Items were marked "shipped" and had a tracking number. Received a message today that the order has been cancelled. No explanation other than the canned "item out of stock or damaged."
Had two other items cancelled in the past month. Both of those were "out of stock." I cannot remember the last time I've had something cancelled before this latest flurry. Let's hope that these sellers just need better inventory control and that it's not some kind of funny business going on.
Edit: Fixed typo
