Opened a box of 2020 Topps Chrome and found an extremely bad 1985 Acuna miscut. I thought I had heard once that there is a small market for really bad cuts...I can sort of see the logic as they are rarer than normal ones, but it also seems a little dumb when all anyone wants is PSA 10. Maybe it was Pokémon or MTG that has the market, or maybe I made it up? Anyone know?

To the right Acuna collector, you may be able to attain a premium for it. But many just see it as a flaw.

You see it all the time on e-bay. they are tagged with "Rare Mistake" All you have to do is find the person that wants it and it is in their price range. But it has to be a star player to cash it in for more than it's worth. Commons with bad cuts are usually considered trash.

What is that behind you!?! Oh, It's me! Looking at the cards you have, That I want. :)

You mean "Rare", like the year the Treasury printed $8 Bn worth of Bills
that were cockeyed on the sheet.....
Somebody was really sleeping on that job....

I feel like Topps quality control has really suffered this year. I don't recall seeing many badly miscut modern cards. They screwed up the back orientation on the update cards. And a few other things that are slipping my mind at the moment

The guy at my LCS keeps that type of cards for another guy who collect miscuts. I traded some 70's Topps hockey and after he sorted my cards, he kept a small pile of miscuts aside for that guy. Yes, there's a market. A valuable market? I don't know.

Same box had a 1985 Devers almost as badly miscut plus a 3 card pack and a 5 card pack in a 4 card pack product. I think that is a hot box right?

I collect Ozzie stuff like that but don't pay a premium for them. I just like the novelty of having a whole page of different pint mistakes or bad cuts. Some years like 85 Topps have all sorts of plate alignment issues and or 89 seems to have lots of blotches. I just got a really bad creased up rookie that kinda makes want to give some more thrashed rookies a home, and display them together like art
