Does anyone know if this website counts as a third party for homeowners insurance purposes? I know the website where I keep track of my NASCAR diecasts does. Was just curious if this one does.

If It does, that might explain some of the exorbitant high prices we have found over the years.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I didn't have any luck with my local American Family agent. The steps I would need to take to insure my collection were beyond my time and value of what I have.

For adding your collection on to your homeowner's policy, I would think this site would count. It is a database of what you own. But I don't know a ton about homeowners insurance. I just know that trying to insure my collection alone would be ridiculous in cost and time with constantly updating the value of it. The value listed on this site wouldn't exactly count for insurance anyway since many cards have no listed values.

Not exactly answering your question, but a related topic.
It's been about 10 years, since I called 3 different insurance companies and asked about insuring my card collection. State Farm, Allstate and I forget the third one. All 3 told me they'd be happy to insure my collection at a cost of 10% of whatever I wanted to value it at, per year. So, if I placed a replacement value of $100,000 I'd be expected to pay $10,000 every year! Ridiculous. I was told that was the "industry standard" for collectibles. I was also told that I'd need a list, with pictures of all my cards. I don't know if my listing on this site would count. From the conversation, way back then, I doubt it.
If anyone else has found a reasonable way to insure their collection, I'd like to hear about it.

This is what I was told by my next door neighbor and landlord when I was a young teenager with a growing collection (early 1980s). Annual cost is 10% of the value - and would need to be re-evaluated / appraised each year (also costs money). We abandoned that idea when we figured 10 years in, we could've doubled the collection instead of insuring it.
Also, I'm not sure this datbase could be "proof" of ownership as I could literally mark off that I have five T206 Wagners and the datbase does not verify these entries.

You're typical homeowner's insurance won't be sufficient for your collection. Most have a very low amount that is covered under a standard policy. There are separate companies that insure collectables. I've never done that though

I have my collection "listed" in my homeowners policy. Every year I send my insurance guy my excel list of cards and the approximate value. I think it's just like jewelry or other individually listed items. I hope never to test whether the insurance really works, though.
