Man, what a year. Was there any kid who played baseball at all who didn't, at one point, imitate the Joe Morgan elbow twitch when batting?

Look, Ryne Sandberg is my all-time favorite player. I put him in the top five second basemen of all-time. But even I have to reluctantly admit that the now late Joe Morgan was the best.

Rest in Peace, Joe, except to twitch the elbow once or twice every now and again.

RIP Mr. Morgan. What a fond memory of the 1970's and the Reds. Yes, that twitchy elbow....

A bit before my time to remember him playing, but I loved his announcing on Sunday Night baseball with Jon Miller more than any single color man in the sport. Every word out of his mouth was something you could learn from. He will be missed.

A bit late jumping in on this, but wanted to second Aaron's point. Yes I was lucky enough to see him play as a Red. Yes everyone did the elbow twitch. Yes he's on the Mt. Rushmore of 2nd basemen. But he was also a FABULOUS color commentator and that pairing with Jon Miller was absolutely great to listen to. The ability to communicate his insight and understanding of the game made ESPN baseball broadcasts great.

Unfortunately St. Peter is having a pretty good draft this year: Kaline...Seaver...Brock...Gibson...Ford...and now Morgan. But I'm glad we got the chance to keep them around long enough to watch, listen and learn.
