I've long heard that they want to put it in Chicago permanently, which would mean I wouldn't ever go. I don't know this hobby's reasoning, but I know the ANA (American Numismatical Association- the country's top coin collecting club) made Chicago it's permanent home because it's basically halfway across the country so they figure that it's fairly easy for everyone to fly to...but that totally ignores the thousands of people who travel in other means. I don't know how that's gone lately though because I dropped out of that club a few years ago now.
I would like to see it held at the Javits Center in NYC. That could support it size wise, and NY certainly has more sports than you can shake a (hockey) stick at. Two teams each in hockey, football, baseball, at least one professional soccer team, three in basketball, and the numbers go up if you add in the New Jersey teams, which are pretty much just across the Hudson River away. I don't even know about other sports. I suspect they don't want to pay for the rental of the Javits Center, which is probably a massively high fee.
They definitely aren't serving the whole country by limiting it to only three places, that's for sure. California and Texas both seem like logical choices with how much sports they support, and Las Vegas certainly seems like a popular convention choice.
VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
