A question about numbers in set/subset names

I've noticed quite a few sets and subsets that have numbers in the title, but here they are spelled out. Why is that? Example: 1996 Collector's Edge First Place. The cards say 1st Place. If the number is spelled out, then they would be correct, but many are not.

Site is crowd-sourced. Not everyone is as careful as they should be. Please change these as you see them (and if you can't change them, report them as IRs).

I assume you mean "sets and inserts", subsets are part of the base set. That "1st Place" is just a stylistic logo. Set name is correct at "First Place", it's even trademarked. You wouldn't change Topps Stadium Club to TSC because of the TSC logo on the cards.

I believe "first" is grammatically correct, while "1st" looks better on the card, not to mention it's a bit shorter.

Usually it is best to go by packaging/boxes/sell sheets, but really the name can be changed easily if it is found to be incorrect.
