I know that Beckett has card prices as I subscribe to their price guides but I am looking for any other sites that offers free pricing on the current value of cards. I have an old friend that apparently has gotten into collecting football cards. He sent me a list of cards several day ago asking about the values which I responded based on the Beckett prices. It started off with just 10 cards and now I am getting list from him several times a day with request for values. I need to refer him to a site where he can find the values on his own.

I concur, eBay completed sales is the only accurate, fairly complete price guide. For graded, this one's pretty good too w/a longer history of eBay and auction house hammer prices: https://www.psacard.com/auctionprices/
The price can't be beat on either.
You could always ask them to chip in to help pay for your Beckett membership, I bet the requests slow to a crawl

I agree that ebay completed auctions is the best bet. I stopped using Becket price guides (or any other published giudes) many many years ago.
You could also look the card up on comc.com, but that only shows what people are currently asking, and you don't know how long the card has been sitting there. comc.com does have a sales history feature, but I remember reading that it only lists prices if the card is bought AND shipped. It wouldn't account for people trying to flip cards.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

If you’re looking for what cards are selling for currently, I suggest sportslots.com or comc.com.

This sounds goofy but I have never been able to figure out the items sold thing on eBay. First how much data do they keep (as in how far back) and secondly can someone post a step by step guide on how to do it for us idiots. LOL

If you do a search for a specific card, scoll down the list of filters in the far left column. Under the Show only heading check the Sold Items.

All I found was sold listings and it never changed when I clicked it. I searched Bill Ranford Rookie card and it made no difference.
