Hi, My name's Ray aka Lungman00. I looked for an online database to put my collection and here I am. This looked like the best place out of the others that I saw. I just finished putting my music collection ( 704 total, consisting of 45's, Albums and CD's) on the Discogs database. It appears to be somewhat similiar to here as far as being a collector fueled database.
I was lucky! My Mom kept all of my collections. I even had shoe boxes (Those old enough to remember, in Bata Bullet shoe boxes) filled with cards. Mostly stuff from 70 - 75. Although throughout the years I've collected many other years and cool collectibles, autographs, etc. I have a ton of stuff so I'll be around for a while, hopefully being able to add to the database.
If the need arises are there any mentors that I can message or should I just post it in the forums?
Ok, I'm stepping off the soap box. ;-)

Welcome to the site! I just looked at your checklist and it seems its already approved. Looks like you did everything right. Didnt have any clue that anyone made not sports sets that big that long ago. Interesting set. Do you have the cards to that set? I would be interested in seeing the scans of em.

Welcome to the site. I have to admit it can be quite addictive. Especially when you start adding stuff to the site. I think you will enjoy it here. I saw the cards you scanned already (Ox, they are in the to do list if you want to see them) and they look really good. I hope you have fun catalogging all your cards and stick around. The forums are also fun to chime in on, just like the card of the day. It's fun seeing everyone's different points of view.

Welcome, Ray. It's a great site with a ton of friendly and helpful people. The admin(s?) are timely as well. I've found that posting questions to the forum in general will get you your answer the quickest as there are so many people on here who monitor the forums and are extremely knowledgable AND helpful. Best group of people I've never met!

Great to have you here Ray. I think you'll love it.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Thanks for the replies.
Ox - I only have 5 of the G-men cards. From what I've read, it's a very difficult set to collect. They purposely skipped numbers in hopes that collectors would be uninformed and continue buying the product, in hopes of completing the set in order. Which was impossible. Marketing genious?

Welcome welcome!!
Goudey pulled a stunt like that as well in the 1940's-50's era with the indian cards. They'd have it written on the back, # out of 48 for example, and drop numbers here and there to keep kids buying. Great temporary plan. then people figure it out and your product flops like spagehtti.
I hope your time here is a good one!! never hesitate to ask questions. If there's a card you can't figure out, post a scan or two in the mystery section and there is likely someone who can find out information for you, or knows exactly what it is! I have only stumped these "site experts" once on a mystery card... even so, they found information on what the card was about. Just no checklist.

Welcome Ray. I'm a relative newbie here myself and I'd like to reiterate how helpful and friendly everyone is here. Once you start looking around the site you'll find it can be addictive. You can look at cards, rip a pack of cards, participate in the forum, do some cropping, add a checklist, etc. There's always a way to contribute to the database.
