This is exactly why I've limited myself to Topps basic set cards. Not that Topps is so wonderful or anything, but they're good enough, and it's a limited, albeit impossible to complete, universe. I'd drive myself crazy if I went after the parallels and the Tradeds and Fleer and Bowman, etc. Topps basic sets are plenty.
I did recently decide it was ok to buy other brands from prior to 1951, since Topps didn't exist.
But, back to my dumb goal of getting all the (old) Frank Thomas (Topps) cards....
