I have seen some previous threads about this, but I think I confused myself more. I am going through some of my collection and cleaning up the cards on the site.
I came across two players already in 1989-90 Hoops. I have cards for Sleepy Floyd and Hot Rod Williams- but on the card itself it lists them as their real names Eric Floyd and John Williams. I know that Sleepy and Hot Rod are listed in the PIDs by their nicknames.
My quesiton is, how should these cards actually be listed on the checklist? I have both of them changed to Eric and John, but of course I have them linked to the proper PID.
Should the checklist have what is actually shown on the card or the nickname? I would think we would want it to actually show what is on the card correct? For instance, I wouldn't think we would go start changing Chris Jackson on checklists to Mahmoud Abdul- Rauf.

We use Hot Rod because his career overlapped with another John Williams, known as Hot Plate Williams, and they are featured in many of the same sets. I've spent way too much time straightening their cards out. I'm beyond the point of caring though, so do whatever.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I'd just like to add, forms of address, titles, ranks, etc are not part of a person's name. Mrs., Mr., Ms., Gen, Maj, Lt, Sgt, Dr., Pres., etc.
Please leave it off.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Major is his first name, not a rank.
