When I was a kid, I had two cards from 1969 Topps with facial hair drawn on. They were like that when I got them. I wonder if they originated in your collection!

My most valuable pack?  That's easy.  It was in 1971.  Was it a Willie Mays or Hank Aaron or Pete Rose?  No.  It was Brewers 1st baseman Mike Hegan.  My cousin and I used to play a game where in order to play a particular team you had to have cards for every position.  My Mike Hegan pull meant I could play the Brewers because neither of us had a 1st baseman prior to that.  During the summer my cousin offered me all kinds of goodies for the Hegan card, but I knew it was too valuable to part with.  To this day that card reminds me of some fond memories from the summer of '71.

 Unbelievable but true story. Back in 1981 my friend and I, while in school, got wind of a local drug store owner selling "old" baseball card wax packs. Not knowing what to expect, after school we walked downtown to his store. We got there and anxiously asked him if he had older packs of Baseball cards for sale. Thinking he probably had few of the previous past years cards. Sure enough he said he did and proceeded to lay in front of us a partially full box of 1960 Topps wax packs. UNOPENED. Our eyes lit up and we looked at each other in disbelief. Then we asked how much. He said, oh about .50 per pack! Needless to say we emptied our pockets with ever cent we had. I think we bought around four or five packs each. We went outside and started to open them, and we pulled (from what I can remember) Mantle, Koufax, McCovey rookie, Aaron, and others stars. We went back several times and bought more, with the same results, many star cards. We even dared each other to chew the twenty one year old bubble gum, which we did. Still have the wax wrappers and some of the cards.

 As a Reds collector I mainly buy singles and team sets. But I picked up a hobby box of 2011 Topps series one last winter at a random card shop. I bought it just to open some packs and because I had never gotten any Reds inserts fro 2011 for some reason. When finished opening the box I had all Reds inserts from series one, a full Reds team set and even the Johnny Bench SP with the Buster Posey card number. I was smiling so big when I realized the Bench was an SP that the shop owner thought I had pulled a Ruth auto. That will forever be my Reds Hot box.
