With a select few exceptions, one does not retire from the CFL. You are simply told 'you're not even good enough to play in the CFL'. Greene was not one of those exceptions. This year aside, the quality of play in the CFL is better than most US folks would imagine, the rules just make it a game more centred on mobility than power.
