I really liked the 2010 Topps Manu Patches. I have a few of them and wish I had some more of them. I really hated Manufactured Patches from any company before these. But that was b/c all of the previous ones were letters to simulate the name on the back of a jersey. Yes, I have a couple of those too, but it doesn't mean I liked them. The 2010 Commemorative Patches were much more interesting since they actually revolved around history of the sport. Thanks to sets like this I have replica-patches from several STL Cardinals WS appearances. The only negative I would give would be the square opening is rarely close to the actual patch shape. Most patches are circular and some with extra extension in opposite directions. But besides Topps not taking the time to actually make the cutout fit the patch, I still really like these. For a note on this actual card, I did get to see the original Yankee Stadium in 2005 and got a picture of it. Unfortunately, I was just passing by on the Interstate.
I would much prefer a manufactured patch than 99% of the relics included in the flagship products. I only wish some of the prices weren't so high on the secondary market.
I don't know exactly why the manufactured patches get so much hate, but I can tell you why I don't like (most of) them.
They usually have zero connection to the player pictured. (In the case of this, was this on the Yankees uniform this year? If so, why not just use ones that were on the jerseys or extras from the patch maker? If not, why would I care about this patch for this player?)
They are considered "hits" or one of the draws of the packs/boxes/cases. As if a manufactured patch is even remotely similar to a game-used relic or an on-card autograph?
There was only one manufactured relic set that I liked - the 2013 Topps Silver Slugger Award Winners Trophy set. At least these were mini-replicas of the trophy that these players won, but I still wouldn't consider these "hits" coming out of packs. They are a cooler than average insert card, but not a "hit".

I have a number of these and just put them into a box at the time. I didn't care for the patch not fitting the cutout, so you ended up with off center patches and a few that the glue didn't hold well.
It is always nice to pull older HOFers out of a pack/box though.
To be fair, Dan: That patch is on CC's left sleeve. It would be much better if they could get the actual patches, but then they'd all be 1/1's.
Off the top of my head, 3 of mine have WS patches and a couple would be nearly impossible to acquire. My Ozzie Smith has a 1982 WS patch, my Bob Gibson has a 60's WS patch and my Dizzy Dean has a 30's WS patch. The Cardinals won each of those WS's and each player was on that specific team. I can't think of another one right now, but I think I have more. I'm only talking 2010 though, not the later MANU patch sets.
