Year: 1990
Set: Donruss (Rate)
Card: #344 Chuck Finley
“ Interesting trivia ... Finley is the only pitcher to have 4 strikeouts in one inning more than once... and he did it 3 times. ” -Splinter_9
“ First, the card. Being a diner guy, the border reminds me of terrazzo flooring. I can't say anything bad about a guy named Chuck. Married to the Whitesnake video babe, Tawny Kitaen. That was until she beat/kicked him with her high heels ” -C2Cigars
“ In terms of the card designs from Donruss' Ugly Period, I still rank this one ahead of '88 and '89, but a notch below '91. (Ugly or not, I still collect 'em all, but just sayin'...) ” -mkaz80
“ Poor Chuck Finley, a very good pitcher for many years, but the only thing he is remembered for now is being attacked with a shoe by Tawny Kitaen while they were married. ” -davidhandberry
“ Where are the fans? ” -Billy Kingsley
“ One of the infamous 1990s overproduction era sets that everyone loves to hate. When these first came out I didn't mind them then around 2004 when I "returned" to the hobby I started to hate on them simply because they were in the midst of the Overproduction Era of the mid 1980s to mid 1990s (in some ways I don't think that era ever stopped). I like this set again. I like the simplicity and that it is one of the last regular sets before they started putting foil lettering on everything. I wonder how many people confuse Chuck here with the Oakland A's Owner Charlie O Finley who experimented with having Orange Baseballs for night games in the early '70s? I was wondering if he was somehow related. I don't think they are. ” -captkirk42
“ I love this set, kinda fancy ” -Tylergallo
“ The "recent major league performance" was always a poor idea. I love seeing which minor league teams the guy played for and how well or poorly he did in his rookie year. ” -NJDevils
“ 9 complete games and a 2.57 ERA in 1989 and not a single vote in that year's Cy Young. That's pretty crazy. Can't miss the iconic red border. ” -vanstryland
“ Burn Notice has forever changed the way I think of Chuck Finley. ” -jupiterhill
“ always loved the black/gray/brown, speckles on the sides of this set ” -Thunderfoot
“ 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 of these? Who knows. I still have unopened rack packs! Of all the Donruss sets from their first 10 years, this one probably aged the second worst (1981 wins, or loses, depending on your perspective). At least this card has a very nice photo and has a pitcher who was really good for a couple seasons. ” -vrooomed
“ Shame that this set is considered junk, for I like it. Overproduced, but decent design. The back is great--lots of stats, lots of information, including how acquired. ” -cjjt
“ Yes, yes, yes!!! YOU may call it junk, but I call it glorious! I love my 80's and 90's cards!!! ” -muskie027
“ Oh... um... Hi 1990 Donruss... How long have you been standing there? No, we weren't talking about you.... Hey how is your son, 2016 Football? He's a real chip off the old block. ” -LordKinbote
