I actually really enjoyed most of Pacific NFL cards and 1996 was no different , decent design and some good photos , I have quite a few of the base and the red & blue parallel

There is a religion and current news podcaster out of Indiana, who is in his mid-40s and professes to be a HUGE Colts fan.

One time while discussing Walker’s failed senate race run in Georgia called him a “memorable Minnesota Viking!”

Yeah, Viking fans, and Cowboy haters in general, want to forget that ever happened considering all the prominent  pieces the early 1990s ‘Boys picked up in that trade!

Plus IIRC he played more games for the team depicted on that card than he did in Minnesota!

OE:  NEVER MIND!  Three years in Minny, three years in Philly, year with the NYG and a return to Big D before calling it a career

You recall incorrectly. Walker played a total of 42 games for Minnesota and only 16 for the New York Giants. I have the largest collection of Walker cards on here by a mile. I've been collecting him since he was at Georgia. I have very mixed feelings about him. I am diametrically opposed to him politically and I also don't like the fact that he fathered so many children and lied about it. That being said, I still collect as many different cards of his as i can locate. I really think some of his bizarre behavior can be attributed to CTE. He took so many hits during his career, I have to believe it affected him. He's done so many wacky things that he's an easy target for ridicule. However, he is one of the greatest college football players ever and had a better pro career than people remember.

Regarding the famous trade, to me, that was more Jimmy Johnson's smarts in using the conditional draft picks, along with Mike Lynn, foolishly thinking that one player would put a team over the top(Johnson's book: "Turning the Thing Around", has a great explanation of it.  Walker isn't blameless for how he played in Minnesota, but he wasn't used properly at all. He was way more successful with the Eagles, but by the time he got to the Giants, there were too many miles on the engine.

I do believe this is the first ever Card of the Day where I have met the person featured. I met him in May of last year in Salt Lake City Utah while he was on the Kyle Petty Charity Ride. I happened to be in town for a convention and it worked out perfectly timing wise that I was able to get over there.

He's also the only professional football player I've ever met.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
