Year: 2005

Set: Playoff Absolute Memorabilia - Heroes (Rate)

Card: #AH-43 Bernie Williams

“ Kind of a generic insert set. I am not a big fan of any insert set that doesn't have a specific purpose other than being just another card for stars. ” -hiflew
“ As you can see, a serial #1 card. I'm a big collector of them- baseball only up to and including 2015. If you have any you'd be willing to sell, drop me a message and I'd be interested in hearing what you're asking for. ” -Dave Sosidka

“ Nice looking insert. Photo looks good against the white background. I anticipate most of the other comments will be negative. Maybe I'll be wrong though. ” -switzr1
“ Bernie was the man!!!!! Too bad he had to be on the Yankees. LOL ” -tinyshogun
“ OK looking card. Nothing to special though. Like that it is serial number 001 ” -captkirk42

“ Absolute comes up with a card design that isnt aweful... great job whoever was there in 2005.... ” -parsley24
“ A true Yankees Hero! A great guitar player, too. ” -jayoneill

“ Bernie! Nice looking card. I like it. Cool SN 001/250. ” -freakizon

“ Neat image, but really don't like it when they make it hard to find the name on the front of the card. ” -dettigersmlb
“ Ebay 1/1 Let's GOOOOOOOOO! But seriously, if you get a numbered card, you'd prefer if it's the jersey number of the player, the last card, or number 1. ” -BigBoyOnWheels

“ This has a cool look, but a background of a moment or something would have been cooler. ” -muskie027

What is the design in the background supposed to depict? What were they going for? I see an H that is drawn in black in a weird way that looks like nothing in particular. The cursive word Heroes isn't anything special. Its just totally vapid and devoid of any meaning.

Looking at the inserts for this set, it becomes obvious very quickly what the big white space is for. There are autograph and relic parallels of this insert.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

I wish US companies would do what BBM does in Japan with sets like this.  Instead of a gaping hole where the relic or auto should go, the usually have foil signature version.   At least then something doesn't seem to be missing.
