Year: 2008

Set: Panini UEFA Euro 2008 Stickers (Rate)

Card: #107 Fernando Meira

“ Decent design for this set of Panini Stickers. I usually don't collect the stickers for the UEFA Euro Championships mainly just the stickers for the World Cup. I like the World Cup stickers better because more than just European countries are included in those sets. ” -Gunny

“ I need more Panini stickers ” -switzr1

“ Is this two soccer cards in a row? Interesting design. Once again, it kinda looks like a card in a video game, but I know nothing about the person on the card. ” -BasketbalHQ

“ yikes soccer card... no comment ” -parsley24

“ When Fernando looks in the Meira he see his reflection looking back at him and it is this card. Portugal is one helluva man. Just imagine the sound of bugs jumping from string to string. That is how the pirates brought the ukulele to Hawaii island. ” -ganondorf666

“ TCDB does seem to like Panini soccer stickers. ” -Brendan Barrick

“ Oof! Two UEFAs in a row on RCotD. Not a set that I'm familiar with, but this is a good, straightforward portrait shot. Team uni is clear, and team (nation) labeled well on the sticker itself. I'm a bit confused by the bottom where his name is, though. Is that a design, or an ink blot, or a reflection, or microbes, or ????? ” -kents_stuff

“ Wow...buddy just looks like a Bond villain that gets knocked off in the first 10 minutes of the film. ” -rmpaq5

“ I enjoy the multiple languages on the back, nice touch! ” -Kirbythedodger

Sticker set published for the EC 2008 took place in Austria. Most games played in Vienna about 5 miles from my place. Austria failed to survive the group stage. Portugal did, but lost in the round of 8 to Germany (as always ;-)). Spain took the titel over Germany in the final. Fernando Meira is well known in Germany, he played most of his career for the VfB Stuttgart. He was a key player in the championship team when Stuttgart surprisingly reached 1st place in the 2006/2007 Bundelsiga season. I was born near Stuttgart and was present at the public viewing of the last game as well as the championship parade live at the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart. An incredible experience.

No soccer images for ages then 2 in a row. This was a fun set to collect and one of the better international tounement sets Panini has done.
