Year: 1993

Set: SCD Sports Card Pocket Price Guide (Rate)

Card: #25 Nigel Wilson

“ I wonder if the magazine licensed the design from Topps? This is the 1973 or 74 Football design (I can't remember, football's not my thing, although I do have some of this design in my collection) ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Nigel Wilson, David Nied, the first two taken in the Marlins/Rockies Expansion Draft. Future Hall of Famers they were not. As for the card, the front is pretty boring, but I like the back. That is some trivia though. I can only name a handful of player's high schools and those are all people from my hometown. ” -davidhandberry

“ Awesome uniform. ” -ShoTime

“ Very nice relatively unknown card, first time i ever see it. Very impressive for a magazine card. Never got much of a shot at playing with his hometown team. ” -baseballcardstoreca

“ Nice retro/magazine card. I recall sometime last year (I think) someone had sent me some cards which included a couple of these "Pocket Price Guide" cards not this specific one but similar looking cards baseball players on a football card design (or vice versa) ” -captkirk42

“ I like the old school Marlins uniforms much better than the new ones for sure! ” -RoyalChief

I looked it up, it was the 1973 Football design.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

This one is a surprise. I've lived in the Oshawa/Whitby area for most of my life and haven't heard of this guy. He wasn't in the majors long at all, but still very cool to learn.

Had a really decent career in Japan with the Nippon-Ham Fighters, the same team where Yu Darvish and Shohei Ohtani started their careers.

As far as I know these cards were unlicensed. They were bound into the magazine and you had to cut them out. The company argud they were part of the editorial material of the magazine and as such did not need to be licensed by Topps, MLB or the Players Union.

They were the back covers.  You just had to pull it off.
