Random Card of the Day

Year: 1999-00

Set: Fleer Force (Rate)

Card: #116 Pat Garrity

“ I can barely read the Orlando Magic on the side. If it weren't vertical it might of been alright but they had to have gotten a 4 year old first learning cursive to have written it and then turned it so it is almost impossible to read. Besides that one thing I like this card. The pictures (front and back) are very good. The dark background makes everything pop very nicely. The back is very well done. I would give the front an 8 and the back a 9 just because it needs something in the large white space reserved for stats. I understand he is a rookie so he only has one line but I miss the day where they would put a cartoon or trivia or something instead of just leaving blank space. ” -davidhandberry

“ Not a fan of this set. It's all mirror foil, and the vast majority of the cards, as seen here, developed a filmy coating on them. It looks bad in hand and in scans. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ *sigh* a card with sideways lettering on front. Otherwise the front is OK. Back is OK I guess. I tend not to like full photos on the back and only one year of stats for modern cards. For vintage cards a one year and career totals lines are fine the full photo on the back makes the backs busy and takes away space for text. ” -captkirk42

“ Not a bad looking card, but he team name in cursive is pretty brutal. ” -parsley24

I have this set but I'll agree with Billy that I'm not really a fan of it. I also didn't realize when I bought the set that it was just a foil parallel of the Fleer Tradition set, which I already had and which is much nicer looking.

Not a fan of the set, I went to high school with Pat. He was a good player, enjoyed watching the games and the team won a couple of state championships. His mom was a teacher at our school as well.

It's not really a parallel of Tradition. It's got a lot more rookies, and they all have updated photos...I can't remember if any of the veterans got new photography, but I seem to recall no. I'll go take a look at Anfernee Hardaway and Ron Mercer, both of whom got traded between the release of Tradition and Force.

Edit: they did update some photos.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
