Year: 1970

Set: O-Pee-Chee (Rate)

Card: #381 Athletics 1970 Rookie Stars (Bobby Brooks / Mike Olivo)

“ Ah, the Canadian version of Topps. Since our two countries just agreed to a trade deal maybe this an appropriate card to come up for comments. Admittedly I didn't start following baseball until 1977 but I don't recall either of these gentlemen. The card itself is okay. It does it's job. ” -John Kerry

“ Awesome ” -Splinter_9

“ Vintage OPC...cool. looks like it even has the cut line present on the right. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Love these 1970 cards! ” -KMack

“ 1970 Topps Baseball is always nice to see in RCoTD, but the fact that this is OPC is even more intriguing. Just like Topps, but friendlier! Et en Francaise! Either way, while the grey border is a bit blah, I think it has a distinctive and classic look. ” -kents_stuff

“ Never liked the silver border, but nice to see an older card show up. ” -tbshaw

“ Awesome! O-Pee-Chee!!! 1970 Topps set was the last of the worst. Starting in 1971, I think Topps came up with much better pictures and some funky 1970s designs. ” -cjjt

“ Cool Vintage Baseball. Even cooler its an OPC card. ” -captkirk42

“ Nice layout and fun card. ” -Kirbythedodger

“ Late 1960's, early 1970's A's farm club had tons of stars. Too bad, these two guys weren't two of them. Great set! One of the first Topps sets I ever completed. ” -jayoneill

“ Sit back, smile, admire the beauty and watch the positive comments flow about a great card, a great set, and a great collecting period! ” -muskie027

The two rookies on one card was just not my thing. I’m really more of a fan of single player on one card RC’s.

I have the Topps counterpart to this card but for some strange reason having lived my entire life in the "Great White North it seems I never really encountered many OPC set cards. Go figure. Any vintage card is appealing even the lesser known players of days gone by.
