Year: 1998
Set: Topps Stars (Rate)
Card: #69 Charles Johnson
“ graphics overload. not a good looking card. i also have issue with serial number cards into the 1000's ” -parsley24
“ Topps? TOPPS? WOW this looks more like something Pacific or Upper Deck would have done. Don't like it. The background is too odd looking I guess they tried to graduate the manufactured star field onto the background. Back I don't know what is going on. Oh look a mid to late 1990s serial number. ” -captkirk42
“ This card brings back great memories of watching baseball through cheap vinyl mini-blinds. I only remember Charles Johnson as a Marlin. Apparently he made at least one other stop during his career. ” -dilemma19
“ Don't quite know why, but I like this design. ” -Billy Kingsley
“ I liked some of the photography from this set, but it was clearly only created for the purpose of having lots of colored foil parallels, which was already being done to death by 1998. This felt like Topps pretending to be Pacific. ” -DaClyde
“ A little noisy, but not too bad for my taste. But it's too hard to read the player's name and whatever else is up there. Otherwise I approve (for whatever that's worth). ” -kents_stuff
“ I've seen worse. I've seen better. It is kind of neat how they were able to make it look like an American Flag backdrop but on closer inspection, it is a picture of space and a picture of the crowd in the back. ” -muskie027
