Year: 1993

Set: Starlog: The Science Fiction Universe (Rate)

Card: #80 179 - June

“ Despite being a lifelong fan of science fiction, I think I've only got one or two issues of Starlog. This might be one of them, but it's packed in so deep storage that I have not seen any of them since about 1998. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Magazine cover? ” -carthage44

“ I used to really enjoy reading Starlog. This card wins all around. Starlog, Batman and puzzle back what a troika. ” -Gunny

“ Not a fan. ” -parsley24

“ What is this? ” -beansballcardblog

“ Oh its Starlog cards. I seem to recall hearing about this set commemorating the magazine and it's past covers. I did think it was a magazine cover and not a card at first glance. Hmm Puzzle back looks like something 2001ish or a Star Trek flick OH it's just a generic space scene painting. It helps when sets with puzzle pieces have a "full puzzle" card to show you the final image like Topps used to do in the 1970s and 80s. ” -captkirk42

“ No thanks. Not my thing. ” -switzr1

“ I never would have thought to make a card set that serves as an ad for back issues of a magazine, but that's the early-90s for you! ” -DanD

“ What is this? ” -muskie027

This nearly defies all odds of actually making the Random Card of the Day as according to database stats a total of just 3 are actually in existence in collections which begs the question (and maybe it's already been a discussed point, that is are there "unique" , 1 only cards in the system and if so which members have one or more that fit that description??

There are plenty of cards that I have the only one listed in my collection here, but while that is a interesting train of thought, won't actually play out. There are quite a few members to find images on the internet of cards they don't own but upload anyway, and there are also members who do own the cards they scan but don't bother to track thier collection.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

I scanned the card. I own the set. I don't track the set here as I don't really consider it as part of my collection that I want to track here.

I found the set for $2.00 and always enjoyed Starlog when I read it. I figured it was worth picking up, and when I noticed that it needed scans here, I added what I needed to.

It shouldn't be assumed that members on the site have actually checked off everything they own. I wouldn't be surprised if more people here have some of these Starlog cards stowed away in one of their boxes somewhere.

Hope I didn't offend you there Angus. Not my intent, I didn't even bother to look who uploaded it.

There are some cards that I have uploaded that I don't actually own- but I have access to, as my brother also collects, or used to anyway. (he doesn't like the new stuff) He has let me scan his collection but very little of it wasn't already on here.

No offense at all. I was responding to PapaG321's post anyway.
