This is pretty awesome. And expensive. Do you actually have all these cards? It's a very cool idea. Nice work.

Great completed list, Topps trophy cards are iconic, beats the Donruss rated rookie cards hands down.
| ||
....or almost complete I should mention, you need the '72's, the last year of the original top-hat baseball player trophy cards.
| ||
I see you've updated. I'm a little confused or ignorant. How do you know they're Topps all-star rookies if there's no trophy on the card? Did they publish lists? Still a cool idea.

I am approx. 95% complete on this collection. (slow at putting on here). Still missing a few 80,s when they did not put the trophy on the cards. Topps puts out the list around Nov, before they start printing Series 1 set. They have elected players since 1959. Checkout my website where I have more about The Trophy Cards. (I need to update that as well) Thanks

Just picked up the '68 Lee May.

This is a fun subset. I always liked them when I was a kid. About 10 years ago I put the master set together (including short prints and variations) and keep adding to it each year when the new team gets selected. I also have about 60% of them signed (a much harder project). Since 2009, Topps Heritage also has included ASR cards.
| ||
I collect these autographed and have a lot of them. What do you do about Charles Johnson who was catcher on the 1995 team but did not have a Topps card?
| ||
This is an awesome listing of cards. I started several months ago working on autographs from the Topps Rookie All Star catchers. Thurman Munson will be the obvious bear there. As for the post on Charles Johnson, I ended up going with the 1991 Topps Traded in the USA Team uniform as he didn't have a Topps card for quite a while. I've tried to search for why but no luck in getting an answer.
| ||
I have never seen it mentioned that the Tony Oliva has 1963 instead of 1964 trophy. I guess it's an uncorrected error.
| ||
Thats funny! Had that card for several years and never noticed the error. I bet it was never corrected, but I will be looking. Keep On Collecting !!

I have all the Topps Trophy cards to include Series 1 from 2017 of the base sets. So I have not collected all the Heritage cards. I have even managed to find a few odd ball ones on E-Bay like a Brook Jacoby and Brian Fisher. And many years ago I collected a porcelain 1972 Carlton Fisk. I wish I could find more of those.
| ||
2016 Chicago Cubs Team Set issue card of Addison Russell is exactly the same as his base card, except it does have the ASR trophy
| ||
I need a lot, especially parallels. And I have a lot of extras, including some Heritage SPs.
Does anyone have any info on the Series 2 Topps 2017 Trophy cards? There are none in the set and none of the SP's have the trophy.
Topps did not put the trophy cup on the players cards in 2017 series 2. BUT they did put the trophy cup on the players cards in the 2017 chrome set.
Love this set; been working on it for quite a few years now. I do the regular issue, opening day, chrome, and heritage. Also the misc sets like 2000 all time set, 2005 special set, 2010 60's set, 2014 inserts, 2011 Lineage, 2018 inserts, and whatever else I can find. There are picture variations in some of the reprint sets too. Topps has been putting trophies on their wrestling cards last couple years even! Hope you get a chance to update the list! It is very useful! Thanks!
Will try to update soon. Here is 2019 Topps All Star Rookie Trophy list Pete Alonso – 1B, New York Mets Yordan Alvarez – DH, Houston Astros Nick Anderson – P, Tampa Bay Rays Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. – 3B, Toronto Blue Jays Keston Hiura – 2B, Milwaukee Brewers Eloy Jimenez – OF, Chicago White Sox John Means – P, Baltimore Orioles Bryan Reynolds – OF, Pittsburgh Pirates Victor Robles – OF, Washington Nationals Will Smith – C, Los Angeles Dodgers Mike Soroka – P, Atlanta Braves Fernando Tatis Jr. – SS, San Diego Padres
Is the Topps all rookie Cup Team cards available as a checklist listing? Sam Arce samarce@aol.com
Here is kind of a checklist. Just scroll down to Year by Year Rosters. It's usually kept up to date. https://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Topps_All-Star_Rookie_Team
| ||
The writers voted LA Dodgers 2B Jim Lefebvre as the 1965 NL ROY, but Topps gave the rookie trophy for second base to Joe Morgan ... I think Topps got it right. Does Topps still have a ceremony and hand out an actual trophy? Cleon Jones received his trophy and gold top hat on 10/26/1966: Here are 9 of the 10 players from the 1963 team (Al Weis was absent) on 10/24/1963. The 10th player in the pic was Billy Cowan (Minor League POY).
Thanks theFalcon for that info and pixs. I don't know if they still have the ceremony/luncheon still, or actually give the players a trophy anymore. If anyone knows, let us know. Keep On Collecting !!
| ||
Great list! Thanks for sharing! I stumbled upon your list when I recently decided to start this collection and was searching for checklist info. One of the most exciting things for me as a kid was getting a card with the trophy on it so I figured this would be a fun endeavor. You don't happen to have a similar list for the Heritage cards do you, FASprotscards?
This is a great list. I am starting a new subset on this collection. It would be interesting to see which year produced the most productive team as a career (stats, all star appearances, world series champions, awards, HOF, etc.)
Are there other options of getting the 1979 - 1986 Topps (an others without the trophy) with a trophy on card other than 2005 Topps Rookie Cup? Erik |
