Trivia

  • Traded (or Update) sets have been issued by Topps for every year since 1981--with the exception of 1996-1998. Much smaller Traded sets were issued in 1976 and 1974. The 1972 Topps sets contained a Traded subset. The 1969 and 1951 Topps sets each contained two variation cards that could also be considered Traded sets. The 1981 TT set made it an official standard.
  • Unlike every Topps Traded/Update set made ever since, the 1981 set was numbered as an extension of the Topps base set from 727-858. In each year afterward, Topps Traded/Update sets would be numbered starting from 1 and followed by a letter "T" or "U".

It's hard to ignore this set as part of the 1981 Topps collection because of the continuation of numbering from #727-858. Your sets are not complete without the Topps Traded/Update sets. Don't panic. Get the sets.
