Trivia |
- Pat Locanto is featured in this set. He was a Rule V pick of the Royals from the Philadelphia Phillies for Spring Training, 1970. He was returned to the Phillies at the start of the season and never played a major league game.
- There are only seven players who played for the 1970 Kansas City Royals who didn't get featured in this set- Ted Abernathy (acquired from St. Louis on 7/1/70), Bobby Floyd (played 4 days in June and then was a September call-up), Buck Martinez (played a few weeks in August through 9/4/70), Don O'Riley (played a little in July), Paul Splittorff (didn't play until 9/23/70), George Spriggs (played a little in April, then not until August), and Jim York (4 games in September).
- Cookie Rojas was acquired on June 13, 1970 and appears in the set.
- Dennis Paepke appears in the set, but did not play a game for the Royals in 1970. He did, however, play for them in 1969, 1971-72, and 1974.
- Charlie Metro is listed in the set as manager. Bob Lemon took over for him as manager on June 9, 1970.
- George Strickland may have joined the staff as a coach when Bob Lemon ascended to the position of manager. That may account for why his card appears to have been taken in Kansas City and not at spring training.
