- LaVar Arrington's rookie card #189 was removed from the set when he refused to grant his name and likeness to NFL Players, Inc., declining to join the NFLPA's group licensing agreement when he signed his rookie contract. Although a few Silver Script versions got out, most versions of this card have the center cut out. Checklist #220 was also pulled from production since it listed #189 as Arrington. Upper Deck released an apology statement: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, card numbers #189 and #220 have been removed from the set. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Enjoy your NFL UD MVP 2000 Football set!"
