What a mess. In the simplest of terms I want to like 1992 Ultra Football, but there is just so much wrong here that it has to be mentioned. The design follows in line with the baseball rendition, which is a positive, but it's obvious that the quality controls in place for that set were not followed here. I can't even begin to count how many cards I get in a box where the gold emboss is completely off center. Sometimes it's so off its coordinates it's downright hilarious. Throw in the fact the player selection is somewhat lousy and the insert selection is insulting and you can start to see how this set is a lousy value. Lastly, be very careful about purchasing sealed wax boxes of these in current times. I bought two boxes and I don't know if the seller stored them in a lousy, damp area, but if the cards stick together because of the UV coating and you have to pull them apart you will essentially end up ruining every card in the box. I'm hoping this was just an isolated incident but if you're worried about that and aren't trying to collect the set you may be better off just buying the singles you want online and call it a day. Honestly, there's just so little going on in this set anyway that I'd just suggest doing that.

The card design is the same as 1992 Fleer Ultra baseball, with the gold foil stamping and the UV coating. The top QB's were not in the set because of a hold out of sorts for more money and a bigger piece of the action, so no Joe Montana, Jim Kelly or Troy Aikman, to name a few. The backs were just as sharp as the fronts, with all numbering and flagging team colorized. I didn't like some of the numbering, as it was hard to tell at first glance, as teams like the Packers and Dolphins numbers blended in with the green grassy background. After breaking open a box, I was able to complete only 79.3% of the base set, and only 5 inserts, one Chris Miller insert and the other inserts were from the Award Winners set, Mike Croel, Barry Sanders and Pat Swilling. Michael Irvin, . A little disappointing, as usually I can at least complete the base set, even in the early 1990's sets. Overall, a really good product, great front and back action photos, as we have come to expect after 1989 Pro Set set the bar pretty high. Definitely an 7.5, just because of the incomplete base set and the lack of inserts in the box.
