Except for card #304 (the Shark Attack! San Jose Sharks team roster), it's easy to distinguish the American, Canadian Bilingual, and Canadian English versions of the cards.

The American cards have the American flag on the back, and all the non-subset player cards have a purple border on the front. The American cards were released in a single series, but supplemented by a 110-card Rookie And Traded box set, which has a green border on the front.

The Canadian cards have the Canadian flag on the back, and the non-subset player cards have a red border on the front (series 1) and blue border (series 2).

The Canadian English non-subset player cards have a green "shadow" on the front and English text on the back. The Canadian Bilingual player cards have a purple "shadow" on the front and bilingual text on the back.

Card #304 is the exception: The only text is the table headers "Players", "Goalies", etc., and both Canadian cards have only English text. The only difference I've been able to detect -- and it's extremely easy to miss -- is the color of the small NHL logo on the back of the card: the Canadian Bilingual logo has orange in it; the Canadian English logo is just black-and-white. Note that the initial image submitted for the Canadian English card #304 back appears to be of the orange Canadian Bilingual version...
