I do not collect errors and variations, of the same player. I just want to have one card of each player. If possible, I like to have the COR version of a player's card rather than a ERR version of that player's card. The priority of trading for these is secondary behind the Star Player Binder and pretty high especially if I can complete the team set.

I am a serial number collector, and a fan of (old school) Oakland Raiders (and some Los Angeles Raiders). This is a collection of my serial number 1 cards, including my fave card, from 2021 Panini Momentum, of the Materials Prime insert of Jim Otto, a #1 of 5 cards.

This is my PC for Marcus Allen's playing years with the Raiders. I also include the Oakland Raiders (retirees, HOF, etc) that are in the sets of those years.

Update: 4/14/21. I noticed today was one of the top birthdays, so I looked through this list. Seems I hadn't updated that Roy Halladay and Marvin Miller are in the Hall of Fame. Now I have. But I have not updated the WAR for active players. Perhaps I'll remember to when they retire.

Sometime late in 2017, I started paying attention to the birthdays listed on the site. Then I decided I wanted to make a list of the top 10 baseball birthdays, completely subjective, of course.

So here they are.

Methodology: Well first, I used this site. Thank goodness for whomever thought to put "HOF" in red for those players. Because, otherwise, this would have taken forever. I cruised through every day of the year, looking for the red HOF. If I found an "anchor" Hall of Famer, I'd look through the rest of the list, looking for other HOFers, but also all-stars, league leaders, players and managers who had an impact on the game. Then I listed all those players for the dates that seems promising. If there was just one "minor" HOFer, that wouldn't be enough to look at that date more carefully. One "major" HOFer, and I'd check it out. Two HOFers and I'd look closely. Remember, in the end, I cruised past every baseball player who is listed in this database.

But THEN I stumbled into the fact that Baseball Reference has sortable lists of every player born on each day -- sortable by WAR! So I basically started the whole project over and reviewed every...single...day...to see what players had the highest WAR on each day, and I listed the top candidates. I got down to about 60 days pretty easily, then cut it to 41 without a lot of trouble, then found my way down to 25, which I then arranged in "order."
But first, I searched for a similar list on the internet. To my relief, I didn't find one, really. I did find a list of baseball birthdays by total war of all players, but I didn't consider that as a factor.

In the end, I basically looked at the top three WAR for each date, and then checked to see if other significant players were also born on that date. I didn't give a ton of credit to dates with one player with a huge WAR, but no significant other stars to back him up. Think Babe Ruth, Cy Young. There is probably a slight modern slant. I decided to focus on players, but used other prominent baseball figures as tie-breakers. (Think Marvin Miller.)

These candidates dates are just my opinion. Feel free to argue. Or to research better dates.

As to the cards I picked, if I had one of his cards in my collection, I went with my favorite of those, otherwise, I just picked what I liked. Just so I don't have to state whether I have the card every. single. time, if it's 1969 or later, I definitely own the card.

I've been working on this list for a long, long time. And now I've finally pulled the trigger. So without further babbling, I present my list of the Top 25 Baseball Birthdays.

I got into sports into 1992 and it turned out to be the best time to do it. The Toronto Blue Jays, aka the "boys of summer" came off of a very successful 1991 season and were looking to go further... and further they went. After winning first place in their division they dispatched the Oakland Athletics and the Atlanta Braves for their first World Series win.

Then the Leafs started their season... they started off with their typically subpar win/loss ratio. But when the second half hit, everything fell together. The team had 26 wins and 12 losses to make the playoffs, and pushed out Detroit and St. Louis until falling victim to the Kings in no small part due to the infamous non-call on Gretzky (yes, I went there).

To commemorate these fond memories I have from when I got into these sports and teams respectively, I've put together the below list which includes every player (whom I have cards of) who played on the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs roster that year. Most cards will be from that season but if I don't have any I'll use cards from other seasons, with a priority on cards in which the players are in their Toronto attire.

The worst team Wayne Gretzky was on (Not counting the lockout shortened season), the Kings finished 24-40-18 while Gretzky was traded mid-season to St. Louis

At this stage there are a limited number of people I'm still missing...but there is still the opportunity to add some new people.

My detailed daily sports memory didn't start until about 1970. Somewhere along the line I learned about Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito and that was it!!!! It didn't matter that I was in northern NJ (Rangers country) ... it was Boston Bruins all the way!

I've been forced out of the NBA by the insane prices that cards are selling for, but that doesn't mean I'm leaving the sport totally.

I discovered NASCAR on 12/26/1992 when my uncle gave me a big box of 1/64 Racing Champions cars. It was one of the most important days in my life, changing it's course forever. I still consider 1/64 NASCAR replicas to be my main hobby, not cards. I decided I want to track and collect all NASCAR cards #164. There aren't many, as most NASCAR sets are 100 cards or less.

The 1991 Expansion draft for the San Jose Sharks saw them select 24 players from the Minnesota North Stars (It's a long story) in the dispersal and then more in the expansion.

The Blues are currently one of the top teams in the NHL. However, the 2005-06 Blues season saw their 25 season playoff streak end and they finished with the worst record in the league at 21-46-15.
