Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: Ring of Honor by stevejrogers
Last updated on Sep 10, 2022

As part of the promotion's 20th anniversary, a Hall of Fame was announced, with ceremonies being held on ROH TV.

While the promotion had been working along with All Elite Wrestling, AEW's Tony Khan announced purchasing of ROH around the same time the HOF was announced. No word is available as of early September 2022 of a permanent home, or a consistent timeframe for future inductions.

Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: WWE 1993-1996, 2004- by stevejrogers
Last updated on Sep 10, 2022

Starting with inducting the recently passed Andre The Giant as the first member in 1993, the WWE, then WWF, created a Hall of Fame.

The first full class was in 1994, second in 1995 and the third in 1996. The first two were held prior to the King of The Ring PPV event, and the 1996 one was held prior to Survivor Series.

With the coming of the Attitude Era, coupled with many deserving performers still very much active and in other companies, or having issues with the WWF, the Hall was shuttered until 2004.

Then, with the 20th annual WrestleMania, it became a part of the WrestleMania weekend festivities as an arena event, complete with fans attending (the first three were mostly invitee only and done in hotel business meeting/banquet hall type settings). And it has been a WM Weekend fixture ever since.

It has recently been announced that, FINALLY (yes read that as The Rock would say it) plans are in motion for a permanent home for The Hall near the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: WCW 1993-1995 by stevejrogers
Last updated on Sep 10, 2022

Started by the company in 1993, and was held annually at the Slamboree PPV in May, and the event was given the "Legends Reunion" brand name. Along with the in-ring ceremony, there were other dignitaries brought out to help honor the inductees.

Dropped after 1995, presumably to concentrate solely on the current product, which was white hot in the midst of the nWo angle. It was never resurrected. It would appear that the WCW Hall was attempting to be more "all-inclusive" to the sport than the WWF's, which was created at the same time, and concentrated on the inductee's time with the promotion. Only a few inductees, like Dusty Rhodes, Ole Anderson, and Wahoo McDaniel had made HOF caliber impacts (both in and outside of the ring) on the territory (Pre-WCW it was Jim Crockett Promotions/Mid-Atlantic under the NWA brand)/promotion through the years.

As far as I know, the honoree plaques were on display at the CNN/Turner headquarters in Atlanta. It is not clear what became of them since the WWF purchase of WCW, and all of its assets in 2001.

Finishing the "Set"--Topps 1990 Catchers by schwitz
Last updated on Aug 17, 2022

The base set for Topps 1990 Baseball included 65 players with "C" listed as the position (not including All-Star cards). While working on my for sale/trade list, I found that 40 of the 102 unique cards I owned already. Being 61% of the way already, I decided to complete the set of catchers.

Need 4 cards to completion.

Joel Youngblood - PC Checklist by Bowersbird
Last updated on Aug 12, 2022

This is for me to figure out and remember the order I want my Joel Youngblood cards to go into their binder pages. I'm ignoring postcards (and maybe a variant or two), so I need something better than just a list of all his cards on the site. This seemed like the best idea.

Background: I was buying some cards on eBay and only needed a few more for free shipping (or some deal like that). I picked out Joel's RC because he was a Red & I thought his name was interesting. When it arrived, I went to put it away, and discovered I had his 1990 Score card, when he was also a Red. Was he really a Red for all those years and I didn't know about him? Turns out, no! 1976 and 1989 are his only years as a Red. I was intrigued, so I did a little research. The more I learned, the more fascinated and amused by this guy I was. So, I decided to start collecting his cards. It's fun to have this ongoing quest as well as become a little more familiar with the different sets of this era.

*Someone please let me know if you're aware of any cards with a Youngblood cameo or any mention of him on the backs of cards. I've found a few, but with 14 years in the majors, there's a non-zero chance there are more examples out there.*

Officers of the Oblong Onion Bags: Leafs Goalies by thirstydeer
Last updated on Aug 9, 2022

Continuing with my focus on my favourite and local team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, I thought I'd take the time to put together a list of Leafs goalies.

When I got into hockey it was right at the time Felix Potvin pushed Grant Fuhr out of the starting role. After Potvin it was Curtis Joseph leading the way. After Cujo it was Ed Belfour. And after Belfour it was a revolving door of misses until Frederik Andersen provided some stability.

Only cards I have of goalies while playing for the Leafs are shown, and it is in order from goalies who played for the team during the 1981-92 season and moving forward to today.

2007-08 Syracuse Crunch by fedoratipper
Last updated on Jul 15, 2022

I’ve heard Billy Kingsley say that the Vegas Golden Knights are what got him into hockey. Well, the team that got me into hockey was the Syracuse Crunch, specifically the 2007-08 team. When they still lived in Syracuse, my mom’s father took me to see the Crunch play the Rochester Americans. I was instantly hooked and hockey easily became one of my favorite sports. To this day, the Crunch are still my favorite minor league hockey team.

The Merkle's Boner Gallery by Vvvergeer
Last updated on Jul 8, 2022

7/8/22. Looks like all my T205 Gold Border Cards got removed from my list. I'm guessing that's because someone fixed the checklist of those cards. I have now replaced them on the list. Fine with me. Gave me a chance to play with this list again....

9/14/17. IT IS DONE! Don't quite know when I started this, two or three years ago, I'd say. But I've done it. This is my collection of every player who was on the field during Merkle's Boner.

I leave the rest of my original description of this list below:

I've always loved it, but for about three years now -- ever since I decided I needed at least one tobacco card, a Cub -- I've been a bit obsessed with Merkle's Boner. Perhaps I just like the name. Perhaps I like that it led to the last Cubs World Series win before 2016. I dunno. I'm just going with it.

I'm not going to recount the story here. I'll leave it to those who are interested to look up. Suffice it to say, Merkle made a pretty understandable base running error that arguably won the Cubs the 1908 pennant. He never lived it down.

I thought I'd be done once I got Merkle and Tinker and Evers and Chance. But then I wondered what other tobacco cards I could shoot for, and it occurred to me that there was a pitcher that day. And another guy on base. And a guy who got the hit. There's the guy who fielded the ball. And, less connected to the play, but of course on the field, were the catcher, third baseman, and two other outfielders.

I lean towards T205s whenever possible, because they have stats and are beautiful. I hope to own all of these someday. It'll take awhile. But here's my Merkle's Boner gallery. Enjoy.

It's a Deal: TCDB Trades - 2021 Edition by thirstydeer
Last updated on Jul 3, 2022

I started trading on this site in 2020, and decided to put together a list commemorating all the trades I've done on an annual basis.

This is the 2021 edition. This year I traded away 2,139 cards and received 2,265 cards. This adds up to a total of 4,404 cards changing hands.

Each card shown is the one that stands out for me the most in that particular transaction for whichever reason (last card needed for a set, a player I like, etc). That being said the vast majority of cards involved in these trades are commons.

TOPPS ALL STAR ROOKIE TROPHY CARDS by FASportscards
Last updated on Jun 30, 2022

Since 1959, Topps has selected players for their annual All-Star Rookie Team. It usually consists of C, 1B , 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF, LHP, RHP. In 2010 they added a RP, and in 2018 they added a DH. Topps would than put the trophy symbol on that players card the following year. (ex- the 1959 players had it on their 1960 card). In 1974 and again in 1979 thru 1986, All-Star Rookies were selected, but the trophy cup was left off. There were also other times the trophy was left off individuals cards, which will be noted in the comments.
This list will show the year by year rosters using the Topps flagship set. The comments will have players accomplishments, along with a listing of their other miscellaneous and variation cards with the trophy on it.
You can check out my Topps All Star Rookie Cups collection at my collection page. It also has my want list.
The comment section about the players is a work in progress.
Will update the list when new year comes out.
