1988 Topps UK Minis

This was the very first complete set of baseball cards I ever collected, I was about 9 years of age. Being based in the UK we were just about getting into baseball by those stage but had had generations of kids collecting football/soccer stickers and cards religiously so it wasn’t all that big a jump to make, and why it is perfect sense Topps licensed these odd sized cards to test the market, they were trying to appeal to football collectors in the UK. | ||
Odd set, typical of the production boom. Suppose when you decide to include exactly 3 players from each team, some semi-stars will be left out. Meanwhile Mike Dunne, Greg Walker and Larry Sheets make the cut. |
