  • Blank-backed Cal Ripken Jr. rookie cards found for sale are extremely likely to be counterfeit.
  • Wax: 36 packs per box, 15 cards plus one stick of gum per pack (MSRP: $0.30). 20 boxes per case

    Cello: 24 packs per box, 28 cards plus one stick of gum per pack (MSRP: $0.49).

    Grocery Store Racks: 36 cards plus three sticks of gum per pack.

    Rack: 24 packs per box, 51 cards per pack.

    Factory Sets: complete set of 792 cards.
  • The "blackless" cards were the result of cards being printed without the blank ink. As a result, regular cards are lacking the border around the photo and the facsimile autographs and the All Star cards are also missing the players' names at the bottom of the card.
  • 1st 792-card base set, which would become a standard for over a decade (1982-1992 & 1994).
  • "Topps All-Star Rookie" trophies were not included on the cards of the 1981 winners: Tony Pena (C), Tim Wallach (1B), Juan Bonilla (2B), Hubie Brooks (3B), Cal Ripken, Jr. (SS), Mookie Wilson (OF), Rufino Linares (OF), Tim Raines (OF), Bruce Berenyi (RHP), Fernando Valenzuela (LHP).
