- The reverse side of the 1986 Scanlens consisted of a puzzle piece which contributed to one of 10 portrait and 2 landscape player images, one from each of that season's VFL clubs. The two landscape style puzzles were of Leigh Matthews and Andrew Demetriou with the portrait puzzles consisted of Gary Ablett, Tony Buhagiar, Robbie Flower, David Rhys-Jones, Mark Lee, Bernie Quinlan, Trevor Barker, Tony Daniher, Peter Daicos and Roger Merrett. The complete image for the puzzles were of each of the player's respective cards in the series, usually with a slightly wider camera pan.
