Trading Note

I love trading and have no issues trading across the border to our friends down south. I don't particularly care about the dollar value of the cards in the deal and am more focused on balancing the quantity, but I will adjust if dollar value is important to my trading partner. I'm pretty easy and flexible and just ask that people are fair and reasonable. I will also happily trade football for hockey or vice versa and the era of the cards does not matter to me - I just want to get rid of my doubles for cards that I actually want. My doubles have absolutely no value to me as part of my collection.

Buying

I am not really that interested in buying cards and would much rather trade. That being said, if something peeks my interest I still may go for it. I will not buy from outside Canada however, as the exchange does not make it worth my while.

I have baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and racing to trade---happy to trade across sports (and trying to acquire more hockey)

My wants:

  • Hockey: Pittsburgh Penguins (all eras), Minnesota Wild (recent - especially Kirill Kaprizov), certified autographs, relics, Pinnacle Masks, enforcers, minor league hockey (all eras).
  • Baseball: relics of players from the beginning of baseball through the 1990s. I am specifically looking for one jersey relic each of: Will Clark, Ozzie Smith, Bo Jackson, and Andres Galarraga.

Any size trade is fine

PWE is always preferred and has worked fine even for relics - please don't waste extra money on postage!

I am relatively new to TCDB but have been part of the baseball card blogging community for well over a decade. I have over 100,000 cards to trade. Also if you collect matchbooks/matchcovers, stamps, or bottle caps (including MLB/NFL caps from the 60s) I have some of those to trade, especially the matchbooks which I also collect.

PLEASE NOTE: While my modern cards are almost all mint/near-mint, the condition of my vintage cards vary greatly. Some are in quite good shape for their age; many more are in good/fair/poor condition.

ALSO NOTE: For the time being I will usually only be mailing out all packages, including PWEs, once a week, on Saturdays.

For my TCDB wantlists, first priority is my vintage Topps setbuilds. Second priority is the modern cards that I have on there. Lowest priority is the 2017-present Topps setbuilds. For now, for TCDB, my primary focus is completing my 1973 Topps set. I do collect everything baseball, so even if you don't have cards that are on my TCDB wantlists, you will probably have plenty to trade that I would be interested in . . .

****. With the taking on of a merged Collection, Traders would be wise to click on the "Match Wantlist to Collection" link...in addition to Trade Matching.  If a card is outside of my listed Collection parameters [i.e., Dave Winfield, Robin Yount, Jose Canseco, Hank Aaron, etc.], it is likely FS/T in the newly Merged Collection.  I have not decided how I am going to transfer items over to FS/T yet, as I have hardly had any opportunity to look through the cards to get an idea of where things might be located....and this could take some time. *******

I collect:

Tony Gwynn cards

NY Mets cards

Craig Biggio cards

Kirby Puckett cards

*** The Torborg Family - Jeff, Dale, and Doug  ***

The Username...I am a Monty Python fan.  Castle Anthrax is the castle in the Holy Grail movie that houses all the white-clad ladies who are under the oversight of Zoot.  She wonderfully says in response to Sir Galahad's query of the castle's name:  "it's not a very good name, is it?"  And so it is.  You can also call me Shoe Shine Boy, as that's the name I should have chosen and has occupational relevancy.

Among my favorite Gwynn cards is the 1997 Topps Sweet Strokes insert.  Give the back a read and marvel.

Trade Proposal Recommendations:

Your best enticement is Tony Gwynn cards!!  That’s my Primary Collection.  I would love to find my excess cards a better home.  My favorite trades are the ones i can enjoy at a glance:

  • Base cards for Base cards
  • Inserts for Inserts inside a set (i.e., trade the Maddux insert for Gwynn insert) - THIS ARRANGEMENT might just earn you some generosity if you can swing it.
  • Inserts for Inserts (90s and. 00s in-focus)
  • Serials for Serials

I don't mind mixing card types up, at all.  I'll do onesies/twosies; I'll do acrylic snap-cases full.  All I seek are equitable transactions...so that said, bear with me while I re-learn card valuations.  We are apparently not in a Beckett-world anymore.

I'm good with PWE or padded - as we transact, we'll iron out those preferences.

Always looking to do trades.  I prefer PWE (4-27 card trades), but I'm not afraid to work out a big trade. I usually send PWE for smaller trades unless we work something out before the deal gets done, just FYI.

Finished adding most of my football and baseball auto and relics for trade..  They will ship BMWT so all I ask is you make the trade worth the shipping and I'd prefer to do like for like on the autos and relics.  But I'm always open to GOOD offers.

Concentrating on completing my Topps Baseball and Football Flagship sets.  And my Packers Team sets from 1970-2015 Topps Flagship, and base Allen and Ginter sets.  And of course any Robin Yount cards I don't have.

Only shipping packages and PWEs to the US.

PWE to Canada only. (of course for the right trade and cards we might be able to work out a deal for a package)

Sorry no other international shipping (just too darn expensive).

Goals by priority:

Collect 2000 unique Tony Gwynn cards with a focus on 1982-2001 cards. (1500/2000) 2-5-2023

I am building 3 Gwynn collections; my personal collection consists of my nicest cards in top loaders and graded cards.  My second collection is a collection I'm building for my brother.  I also have a 3rd collection that is in binders for easy viewing.  It is not uncommon for me to ask for 2-3 of the same cards.

I have lots of Project 2020 cards for trade.  I would like to get The Gwynn cards from this and the Project 70 sets.

Starting new player collections. Players listed by priority:

Wade Boggs

Fernando Tatis Jr.

Manny Machado

Shohei Ohtani

Complete Tim Flannery Master Set. (5/113) Just starting.

Complete 2 master sets of 87 Topps baseball. 6 more cards needed.  1-10-21

Acquiring Albuquerque Dukes Minor League baseball team sets from 1985-1994.

Collect 1500 unique Tony Gwynn cards with a focus on 1982-2001 cards. (1500/1500) 2-5-2023 COMPLETE

Collect 1000 unique Tony Gwynn cards from years 1982-2001 with a focus on 80's cards. (1000/1000) 1-28-21 COMPLETE

I am still uploading the majority of my trade list, but I finally have all of my Tony Gwynn cards listed.  I am willing to trade Gwynn cards from my collection but only for older Gwynn cards or Gwynn Rookies.

I am also interested in any cheap late 80's-early 90's complete baseball sets or bulk buys if you are located near me in Monument, CO.  Shipping is just too much for these sets or bulk commons.

Trading is off for now while I get my collection organized again.  If you have Tony Gwynn cards to trade, feel free to send me a message.

• Any other local teams of interest - Grand Rapids Griffins, Muskegon Lumberjacks, Grand Rapids Rampage, Traverse City Beach Bums, Traverse City Pit Spitters, etc.

I've been very blessed in my trades and transactions here on TCDB. Thank you to all. I will trade vintage for modern and vice versa as long as there is roughly equal value felt on both sides. I am a set builder and collecter. I do not speculate on my cards for future value. I do this for fun, not for profit. I will sell, but only to build a small bank of money to use for buying cards I can't trade for. I've traded hundreds of cards each way and I've done many 1 for 1 trades, so no trade is too big or small for me.

In packaging, I use painter's tape ONLY. I try to use a photo mailer for small trades of about a dozen or less.  I use #10 PWE for trades up to about 2 dozen cards and maybe 2 PWE for 4 dozen.  After 50 cards, I typically will use a bubble mailer with tracking.  If it is 200 or more cards, they will likely be in a box well padded.

A very minor ding in a corner is not a deal braker for me. I will let you know of anything greater than a very minor ding in the card you will be receiving. I would appreciate the same in return.

If you know of any other sites like this, please let me know.

Hey Everyone,

It's been a long time, but I'm back. I had some major life changes over the past couple of years and also lost a chunk of my collection during a cross-country move.

The loss of cards and major life events put things into perspective, so I took an extended break and didn't touch my cards for over 2 years. I am now picking back up slowly as I re-inventory and reorganize my collection.

I am open for trades, but please be patient as I verify I still have the cards you want.

Primary Collections:

Steve Finley - I was trying to collect every single Finley card, but I am now narrowing my focus on rare cards from when he played for the D-Backs. That being said, I won't pass up any offers of cards I don't already have.

90's Inserts - 90's inserts (really late 90's to 2004)  are what made up my childhood, so I love collecting them.

UD Ultimate Victory (99-00) - All sets, parallels, and inserts

UD Ionix (99-00) - All sets, parallels, and inserts

Selling most of collection.

When giving prices sometimes multiple people are interested in the same card. Will sell to First one to respond back and agree on the price. Also extremely busy so shipping out sometimes can be timely but very good with communicating constantly.

Most cards are excellent condition. If not will always send pictures. Also will always send pictures of cards of decent value or if asked. But when dealing with many cards will send pics of anything not in perfect shape.

Do not go off of this sites pricing. Go off current sales for what they are going for. Very fair.

Also live in NYC. Where there still are many cars shops which I am in a lot. If your looking for a valuable card and I do not have it just let me know and when I am in one of these stores I will definately look out for you. (Selling now but very much love collecting and helping people with their own collections.) feel free to converse about your favorite cards.

Hope all are well during these times.

BASEBALL: San Diego Padres, HOFers, MVPs, CYs, ROYs and other baseball legends, as well as baseball players from Mexico.

I collect for fun, so none of my cards are professionally graded, but all of them are at least in very good (or better) condition. I'd also like to get cards in at least very good condition, so please let me know if any of the cards you're offering are not in good shape (bends or creases, severe corner wear, or major scratches), as I probably won't want them in my collection. Ask for details if interested in the condition of the cards I offer, I'll do my best to disclose any significant issues with the cards before accepting a trade.

I'm not an expert, I make trade offers in good faith, and try to reach equal value, so if my offer doesn't look good to you, let me know, I'm always happy to make a deal.

I'll send the cards via PWE unless we agree otherwise; Due to recent issues with USPS, I'm now choosing to take the envelopes directly to the post office to make sure they're processed properly, so it may take me 1 or 2 days to ship, and I can only ship on weekdays. I'll do my best to communicate when making a deal.

Sorry, the cards in "My Collection" are not for sale/trade.

lf you want to make a deal please send me a message first - l  am not on the site near as much as I was, as I'm back to work full time.

I collect everything - but primarily baseball and hockey.  Most of my collection is either pre-1994 or post-2000.

More completing sets now then adding new ones.

NOTE: As of September 2020 I may be slower responding to transaction offers and so on - quite busy at work and with a home reno.

All O-Pee-Chee Hockey, Baseball and Non-sports base sets and inserts, 1963-64 and earlier Parkhurst Hockey, Baseball and Non-sports, 1990s and early 2000s Hockey Inserts.   Traders available from 60s,70s,80s,90s.  Condition varies on older stuff so please contact for details.  Would prefer to trade 70s/80s for 70s/80s and modern for modern, also would prefer higher $ cards for higher $ cards (unless you have something I really want!) but feel free to propose the offers!

February 2022 update:

So my efforts to focus on hockey as much as possible over the past 16 months have failed miserably. There are just too many really nice baseball (and a few football) sets to collect. I am a sucker for vintage look and feel (Gypsy Queen, A&G, Heritage, Archives). I am also pretty keen on inserts and a few parallels.

If you have any of the following, let's talk:

Hockey:

  • OPC Retro parallels

Baseball:

  • 2019 A&G Hotbox Gold parallels
  • 2021 Gypsy Queen Green parallels
  • 2021 Topps Archives Big Foil inserts

I've been having a great time trading around the world - looking forward to keeping the good times rolling in 2022!

Hi gang, just a couple of notes:

1)  I don't sell on this website.  I rarely buy.   Probably better off not asking me.

2)  If you don't have more than 24 hours to wait on a response to a trade that you proposed, please don't send it to me.   Patience is a virtue.  I generally give people a week to respond if I make an offer.

3)  Have fun when trading.

Trading: A minimum of 12 cards going each way unless there is a true gem / vintage in the trade. PWE acceptable but prefer large trades of 250+ cards in each direction. Please confirm that you actually have the cards before Accepting a trade; I always do the same at this end. Vintage for vintage; HoF/stars for same; inserts / parallels for same, all as much as possible. Priority are vintage, OPC and sets on my UserLists. Having tried to offer cards from these lists will increase the chances of my Accepting a trade; totally disregarding these and offering me 12+ commons from a set that I am so far from completing that they do not make the list is more prone to being Declined, especially if I see you have cards for trade that are on my lists.

------------------------------

Stats: As of 31 December 2022:

Wants OPC Baseball: base sets 1965-1994 + 1981 Grey Backs and 1990 white stock test issue parallel - 344/13,896 cards (2.48%).

Wants Topps Baseball: base sets 1951-2022 + 1952 Black backs, 1954 Canadian, 1975 mini parallel, 1993 & 1994 Gold parallel - 3,139/48,529 (6.47%). Breakdown by decade: 1951-60 - 1,191/3,816 (31.21%); 1961-70 - 1,041/6,135 (16.97%); 1971-80 - 408/7,721 (5.28%); 1981-90 - Complete; 1991-2000 - 70/7,856 (0.89%); 2001-10 - 148/6,986 (2.12%); 2011-20 - 3/6,841 (0.04%); 2021-22 - 278/1,320 (21.06%).

Trading/PIF/Purchases on TCDb:

2022 - 231 + 7 still In-Progress; Cards Sent - 13,922 / Cards Received - 13,530

Total since being a member: Cards Sent - 72,236 / Cards Received - 63,682 (# of trades really doesn't matter to me as it can be misleading to the quantity of cards have come and gone).

Sets completed through Trades/PIF/Purchases in 2022 - 85 sets including 38 base sets.

---------------------------------

2023 Goals:

1. Re-organize my Oddball / Food Issue Baseball sets. First attempt February 4. Will see how that works.

2. Reduce OPC base set needs to less than 300.

3. Reduce Topps base set needs to less than 2,700 (including the 2023 base set issue). By decade, 1950s to less than 1,000; 1960s to less than 900; 1970s to less than 300.

4. Trade over 10,000 cards going each way.

5. Complete 75 base / insert / parallel / oddball sets.

***UPDATE***

*** I ONLY TRADE WITHIN CANADA AND THE U.S.A.! ****

THANKS!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

HELLO EVERYONE!

WELCOME TO MY NECK OF THE WOODS!

First off I have to get this out there...  I am willing to trade, but life does get in the way sometimes and that does interfere with my fun, and stress relief of collecting. Please understand this, so if I don't respond right away, it doesn't mean I haven't seen your proposal.  I have a few that are not understanding this so if I feel that it continues I will turn off my Trade/Sale List.

Please keep trades a max of 12 cards or less and I do PWE.

IF YOU ARE WANTING TO DO A BIG TRADE PLEASE MESSAGE ME BEFORE PROPOSING ONE!

Plus, I like to check to make sure I have the cards you are looking for before accepting trades.  Yes the site states I have it but I like to double check as I am finding errors in my list.

Anyhow, hope to here from ya!

"ULTIMATE END GAME OF MY COLLECTING!"

  • 1966-1967 TOPPS HOCKEY (CDN VERSION)

(At this time I do not have card #35 - Bobby Orr - RC. If you are an individual or a store and have it for sale or willing to trade please PM me and we can try and make a deal.)

  • If you see something you need or want give me a shout.  I always look at a trade to make things work, even if I don't have it on my want list, which keeps changing!
  • At the same time I am willing to help out fellow collectors to complete their collections and look for cards they can't find!  So if I don't have it, I will try and find it for you.
  • For collectors that don't like trading and would rather buy, all cards on my Trade List are For Sale. Message me what you are looking at and we can go from there.

I'm jumping back into the trading game again, however, I will probably only have 1 or 2 nights a week to devote to it, so if you send a request, please be patient as it might take me awhile to take a look at it.

I'm all about the O-Pee-Chee (All Sports and Non Sports) + some Soccer and the occasional oddballs that catch my eye.

Love trading and will always try to find something to make it work. My trade lists goes up and down as I buy lots from garage sales/auctions/kijiji etc and then try to trade the pieces for more O-Pee-Chee goodness.

Please don't bother asking for things not on my trade list. If they're in my collection then they are in my collection for a reason.

PROFILE UPDATED: July 19, 2023

trading NOTICE

Trading remains shut off.  Unfortunately it is now looking like I won't be able to re-start trading until the fall sometime.  Enjoy your summer, everyone!

my COLLECTING PRIORITIES:

I am both a set builder and a player collector.  In terms of set building, I collect hockey cards.  When I first got into the hobby in the 90s, I was more into baseball.  I quickly got into hockey and collected both sports but shortly after made the wholesale change to hockey cards.  I am also a Star Trek fan and collect those cards, as well as whatever other non-sport sets attract my or my kids' interest.

my PLAYER COLLECTION:

I often collect cards of certain players with the intent of getting them signed.  There are numerous means I use to get them signed, and even show every autographed card I have in my user lists: BaseballHockey (A-C)Hockey (D-F)Hockey (G-I)Hockey (J-L)Hockey (M-O)Hockey (P-R)Hockey (S-U)Hockey (V-Z).  The lists includes how I got them signed.  I even show a list of signed cards available for trading or selling: For Sale/Trade.

This player list changes frequently - sometimes more than weekly.  The list was last updated July 19, 2023:

I am not currently looking for specific players.

my CARD CONDITIONS:

Cards from early-90s to earlier may have small imperfections.  The imperfections could include small corner damage, residue from cards being stuck together (bricking), and other typical minor imperfections that comes with handling them a lot as I did as a teen.  The Lego cards may also have small bends in them (they are meant to be played with after all).  If condition is of the upmost importance to you please ask for photos which I will provide.

my TRADING NOTES:

  • My first preference is to trade cards but am open to buying & selling cards.
  • My standard will be to send cards in PWEs (plain white envelopes), including multple PWEs in a single trade.  Bubble mailers, etc. will used on an as needed basis.
  • My mailing day is Friday.  I'm simply too busy with other commitments to do multiple mail runs each week.  If you're in a particular rush to receive the cards please tell me so I can see if I can accommodate.
  • I am not overly concerned with exact $ for $ value trades.  I only ask it be in reasonable.  I realize that is completely subjective but we can work that out.  I utilize eBay sold listings, Beckett pricing guide and the TCDB card pricing as guides.
  • Among base cards/commons, I place the value of junkwax era cards (late 80s to mid90s) at the bottom of the list in terms of value - even less value than commons from late 90s and the 2000s.
  • I've tried to enter variants as accurately as possible, but if you are particular about a certain variant of a card (ex: type of hologram on back of UD hockey card from early 90s) please reach out so I can verify.

my PROMISE TO YOU:

I strive to be a trustworthy and reliable trading partner.  If you have any issues with our transaction, please let me know.  I will find a way to make up for it.  My ask is that you do the same.  No one is perfect, and we all make mistakes from time to time - it's how you handle those mistakes that truly says something about you.

Priority of my want lists:
1 - Any and all Phillies cards (almost anything not in my collection is a "want")
2 - Various set ventures (baseball - 1972 Topps, 2016 Topps Chrome, Archives, Heritage sets, then hockey sets)
3 - Baseball HOFers (1980s)
4 - Baseball HOFers (1970s)
5 - Baseball HOFers (1990s)
6 - Baseball HOFers (other decades)

If there are any other categories of want lists, they would fall between set completion and HOFers.

I added approx. 90,000 cards available for trade in early 2023.

[The next section has been updated on 10/25/2023]

Note: Currently transactions are OFF.

When I have transaction requests turned on, trade proposals will be handled in the order in which they are received. I am continuing to take it slow because I don't have the time or patience to take on too many trades at once. Additionally, I have found that it makes it easier on both sides because the cards are known to be available. And please, when we do trade, please make it so that the postage to/from your location to mine makes a trade worthwhile for both of us. Thank you.

Please also note that I am very much open to selling in addition to trading. If you see stuff you want and don't have anything in return, that's okay. We'll work out a deal that will be fair for both of us, not just me (and not just you, please). (The listings over at the SwamiLee account are in my possession and I am also selling those. The only sport left there is baseball.)
