I target MLB related cards only, but have absorbed others in buying a few collectors out.

I Personally Collect Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Luis Robert and Aaron Judge cards.

I have started trying to assemble some sets that seem to be more readily available, like "TOPPS - Stars of MLB" and others that are not as readily available as SMLB, it seems, like "Select '96 - Team Nucleus".  I am also trying to collect the various "Gallery of Stars" sets from Panini/Diamond Kings.  But in truth, I have just been collecting everything I can get my hands on.  I have, however, noticed that my interests are changing.

If you see something you need/want, but don't have anything to match, message me; I am sure I can find something to trade for in your For Trade/Sale lists. I will also sell a card(s) if there is still no match. You don't know unless you ask!

================

As a baseball card collector for almost 40 years, I have too many cards.

To help with that, I've utilized Twitter over the past ten years to connect with like-minded collectors across the country and completed numerous trades. I am only starting to do the same here on TCDB, which might become a severe addiction. Since I am new on the platform, references from Twitter (ShaneKatz73) can be provided upon request.

I primarily collect off-condition vintage baseball cards (1930-79), with some binder projects I like to call Shoebox Legends for my 1960s and 1970s Topps cards.

I've accumulated tons of extra cards that I will be adding over time that I would like to trade from my current For Trade list. Big trades don't bother me and I am not a stickler for getting value for value. Cards in a box not seeing the light of day don't help anyone. I have a huge Want List, so hopefully, you have something I need. Feel free to make me an offer––I'm happy to large trades via BMWT as well as trade one for one using PWEs. No trade is too small.

For Canadian Traders:
Happy to trade north of the border as I have many OPC PC needs.

Note on Vintage Cards:
I will add some vintage card dupes for trade (I consider vintage to be 1979 or earlier). I've noted a condition grade for each card, and if you check closer, a note on each regarding any condition issues (be sure to select the correct one if multiple cards are shown). Please note that I'm not a professional grader and if you're hyper-sensitive on card conditions, please message me first, and I'd be happy to send you pics.

Note on Card Condition:
A card noted as Pr, Fr, Gd, or GdVg will have some obvious condition issues such as creasing, corner wear, or marks. At best, I would consider them placeholders in a collection (I've listed them because some people want placeholders). A VG card will usually be clean with some corner wear or a centering issue. For me, VG (1950-79) would be the bare minimum for my collection projects. For Pre-War, GD and cards with ink/stamps on the back but with good eye appeal are acceptable. EX will be a nice sharp card, and VgEx will be just between VG and Ex, still a nice card with a minor issue preventing it from being EX.

  • Topps Base complete set builds (currently 1977-present) *Completed: 1982, 1984-1993, 1999 & 2019-2022...10 or fewer away from completing 1983 (1), 1994 (5), 1995 (1), 1996 (5), 1998 (3), 2010 (10), 2012 (8), 2015 (6), 2015 Update (1), 2016 (9), 2016 Update (1), 2017 Update (1), 2018 (1), 2018 Update (3)
  • One of each Topps Cubs card ever produced, starting with base from 77-present - I've got a LONG way to go;-)

IN TRADES: I prefer to trade my dupes for cards I need from the same set or within a few years each way, but I do make trades all the time that violate that preference. Generally speaking, my cards are in pack fresh condition. I pack and ship carefully, and expect that we all do in this community. If a particular card of mine is NOT in pack fresh condition, I try very hard to note that with a condition indicator, and when possible, a note about what the defect(s) is(are). In these cases, comparable condition in return is of course acceptable. When making trades without those exceptions, I am looking for cards in the following conditions.

  • Pre 1975 - Probably would be ok with VG. Dinged corners acceptable, but not rips, tears, completely rounded corners, creases, or significant wax/gum stains. Centering no worse than 85/15.
  • 1975-1981 - OK with EX or better. No rounded corners, No creases, No gum/wax stains, no worse than 75/25 centering.
  • 1982-1991 - Has to be at least EX-MT. Centering 80/20 minimum.
  • 1992-present - Looking for NrMt or better.

I'm aware that we all judge our cards a bit differently, but I subscribe to the general notion that a card's "grade" should be based on the entire package, e.g. a 75/25 off center card could have scalpel sharp corners and great color, so might suffice as better than the off-center defect would hurt it. I own fewer than 10 slabbed/graded cards, so more interested in the card's aesthetic appeal than the grade it might receive.

Finally, trade value does not have to be even to the penny. I'd like to move my cards in which I am less interested into the hands of fellow collectors who would value tham more than I do, and I hope that those I trade with feel the same. As much as my heart wants Beckett to be the guide it was when I grew up in the early 80s, I tend to use sold comps from the prior 90 days on eBay where those comps exist to come up with value when necessary, but when trading commons, 1 for 1 generally works for me.

This is a hobby, and I am in it for the joy of collecting. It doesn't mean I wouldn't take some cash for a card that someone else will love more than I do, but "breaking even" is the ideal. When in doubt, shoot me a message and let's see what we can work out.

Thanks!
