1980/81 - Gretzky starts writing his name in the NHL record book this season with his 109 Assists (which he would break 4 more times), 164 total points (which he would great 2 more times), and raising his assists/game to 1.363 (which he still holds today but now it’s 2.038).

1981/82 - Gretzky sets a few more NHL Records with a whopping 92 goals and 10 hat tricks! His goals record still stands to this day, with Brett Hull’s 86 goals in 1990/91 being the closest anyone’s came to beating it since, but he would tie his hat tricks record in 1983/84.

1984/85 - Gretzky passes Phil Esposito to become the career leader in hat tricks with 34. Mike Bossy would catch up to him the next season and they would share the record with 37 each but Gretzky would pull ahead after the 1986/87 season and never looked back. He would also add 4 trophies to his shelf this season.
