This brings back some sweet memories.  During the summer of 1991, before the team started the regular season in October, I was able to buy a black Starter t-shirt with a big Sharks logo on the front at a mall in New Jersey!  I still have it (I like this logo better than the current one).  Sharkmania was everywhere ,,, and then reality set in when I saw them get murdered 9-0 at the Meadowlands (10/26/1991).  Link Gaetz won the first fight, decking Randy McKay six seconds into the game, but the Devils buried them after that.  As usual, I took pics at the game ..., got a couple of nice ones of John Carter and Neil Wilkinson approaching the ice from the visitor's runway.  Also got fair shots of Ken Hammond and The Missing Link during the warm-up.  Got good shots of NJ's Claude Vilgrain and Bruce Driver departing the ice.  The 1991-92 season was the last year of the Devils' "Christmas" uniforms, which I like better than the black/red uniforms that followed.

Interesting coincidence:  your list does not include Hammond and Carter, who were teammates in college at RPI.  I looked them up and they were not expansion draftees ... signed as free agents instead.  Hammond was no good at the NHL level.  I remember when the Rangers picked him up for a brief look and he just plain stunk.  It's no surprise he was on two hideous expansion teams (San Jose and Ottawa) in consecutive seasons.

A long story indeed!  I kind of consider the Sharks as part of the second six.  Allow me to elaborate.  The NHL added six new teams for the 1967-68 season which included the California Seals who played in Oakland.  The Seals eventually moved to Cleveland and played a coupla seasons as the Barons.  The Barons were then merged with the Minnesota North Stars.  The owners of the North Stars were then granted an expansion team which turned out to be the San Jose Sharks.  The dispersal draft then unmerged the North Stars with the Seals/Barons/Sharks.

Makes sense?  OK maybe not LOL!
