Early to late 90's Robbie Alomar was arguably the best overall player in baseball (the MLB). And historically, he's arguably the best (overall) 2nd baseman in history when considering his offense and defense. Nobody else has more gold gloves at 2nd than Alomar. If he hadn't have quickly started to decline after age 35, he would have easily reached 3,000 hits. Regardless, he led the Jays to back to back world championships, which is very hard to do in baseball. For that alone, he's one of the all-time greats of the game.
