1. 1990 Upper Deck #53 Joe Carter

A lot of Leafs took part in local card shows in Mississauga and Oakville that I frequented. The two that stand out are the shows that were held on a recurring basis at Hopedale Mall in Oakville (now called South Oakville Mall) and Meadowvale Town Center in Mississauga (before it got turned into an outdoor plaza). There were always a Leaf or two doing complimentary autographs.

2. 1991 Score Toronto Blue Jays #25 Juan Guzman

I got into baseball just as Guzman debuted with the Toronto Blue Jays. I saw some games that he pitched at the SkyDome and man he was awesome. I was excited to go to a card signing at the Upper Canada Mall to see him. It was a long line and like $17 per card autograph (which I didn't realize till we were at the mall). After standing in the queue for a few hours when I walked up to the stage he was sitting on a rep took my cards and sent me to the other side of the stage. Guzman signed them, handed them to the rep and gave me the cards. That's how it was being handled. I never got to say hi, or even look at him without other people standing in the way. A very disappointing experience with a player I thought was awesome.

8. 1992 Leaf #101 Duane Ward

I was a guest of my friend at a Toronto Blue Jays special function for ticket holders where they are given a breakfast, listen to a few speeches and there were a few Jays present to sign autographs for the kids. I remember it was Duane Ward and Candy Maldonado. My friend sent me to the Duane Ward line and he went to the Candy Maldonado line. He said he's been at these before and after getting the cards signed we'd switch... except we never got the time to do that and I never got a signed card from Maldonado.
