NPB/KBO-MLB Postsby DarkSide830 - 56 cards (Last updated on Jan 17, 2024) |
Interests in tapping Asian baseball circuits for their talent dates all the way back to Connie Mack trying to sign the biggest legend of the JBL, Eiji Sawamura, back in the 1930s, but the JBL (which would eventually evolve into the NPB) and eventually the KBO held fast to their star players for some time. After stars such as Hideo Nomo and Alfonso Soriano used loopholes to move to the MLB the leagues eventually agreed on a formal system for the movement of players from the Asian circuits to the MLB known as the posting system. Here is a list of the players to participate in the posting system.
Note: One source I found cites Sang-Hoon Lee as a posted player, but no other source has agreed on this information and the posting date would have had to be before the posting system was ratified late in 1998. This is a reminder that this list is not an exact science.
