2020 Major League Debuts

by DarkSide830 - 212 cards (Last updated on Jul 18, 2023)

71. 2020 Bowman - Prospects #BP-100 Jo Adell

8/4 LAA: 1-4

One of the more hyped up debuts of the 2020 season, Adell jumped up from AAA to fill the offensive void left by a handful of struggling Halos OF bats. Adell became the youngest player in all of baseball to appear in 2020 when he debuted on August 4th.

72. 2019 Grandstand Quad Cities River Bandits #NNO Humberto Castellanos

8/4 HOU: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 0 K (GF)

The youthful Castellanos debuted on August 4th as the 5th youngest player (4th if you exclude Jo Adell, who debuted on the same day) and youngest pitcher in the AL. Castellanos proved he belonged with a clean inning in his debut.

73. 2019 Choice California League All-Star Game #35 Joey Gerber

8/4 SEA: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 0 K

Gerber, whose career K/9 on the farms is 13.6, needed only 66 appearances on the farms before debuting in 2020.

74. 2019 Choice PCL Top Prospects #16 Monte Harrison

8/4 MIA: 0-3

With Miami's roster in dire straits after a rash of players placed in the Covid-19 IL, Harrison was the first outfield prospect Miami called on to reinforce its roster.

76. 2020 Topps Pro Debut #PD-57 Luis Patino

8/5 SD: 2 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 3 ER, 2 K

PatiƱo became the youngest player to make an appearance in 2020 upon his debut, beating out Jo Adell by nearly seven months.

77. 2019 Bowman - Prospect Autographs #PA-SS Sterling Sharp

8/5 MIA: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 1 K

Sharp was the last of 2020's retained Rule V draft picks to debut. His scoreless outing helped Miami sweep a doubleheader of one-run games.

78. 2018 Choice Charlotte Knights #1 Eddy Alvarez

8/5 MIA: 0-3

A former Olympic silver medalist in speed skating, Alvarez looked rejuvenated following a trade to his hometown team's system prior to the 2019 season, setting the stage for his 2020 debut. After failing to record a hit in his first three games, Alvarez exploded for three in his fourth.

79. 2017 Grandstand Quad Cities River Bandits SGA #NNO Carlos Sanabria

8/5 HOU: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 1 WP, 2 ER, 1 K (GF)

80. 2019 Topps Pro Debut #20 Anderson Tejeda

8/6 TEX: 2-4, HR, SB, R, 3 RBI

Tejeda was the first player to debut in 2020 with both a home run and stolen base.

Great work.  It does look like someone is missing though.  I can't tell who, but 212 players debuted in 2020, and this list includes 211 ....
