2020 Major League Debuts

by DarkSide830 - 212 cards (Last updated on Jul 18, 2023)

61. 2018 Choice Wilmington Blue Rocks #16 Nick Heath

7/30 KC: pinch runner

Heath batted only once on August 7th, but it was a key at bat, as his single drove in a run that helped the Royals to a 3-2 victory over a powerful Twins team.

62. 2020 Topps Pro Debut #PD-156 Nick Madrigal

7/31 CWS: 0-3

After failing to record a hit in his first two games, Madrigal went 4-5 in his third while producing three runs.

63. 2020 Bowman - Prospect Autographs #PA-KB Kris Bubic

7/31 KC: 4 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 WP, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 K (L)

The next of KC's stellar pitching prospects to debut, Bubic was yet to play above the A+ level but was nevertheless dominant enough last year to earn an early 2020 promotion.

64. 2019 Grandstand Rancho Cucamonga Quakes #NNO Victor Gonzalez

7/31 LAD: 1 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 1 ER, 1 K

Gonzalez rebounded quickly from a lost 2017 and a rough 2018. Strong debuts at both AA and AAA in 2019 saw him added to LAD's 40 man, and a strong rookie season (3-0, 1.33 ERA in 15 outings) saw him stick with the Dodgers throughout the playoffs and pay a key role. (1-0, 2.45 ERA in 4 World Series appearances)

65. 2018 Grandstand Charleston RiverDogs #NNO Nick Nelson

8/1 NYY: 3 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 0 ER, 4 K (W)

A multi-inning threat who started during most of his minors climb, Nelson earned a win in his debut with New York thanks to three scoreless innings.

66. 2018 Choice Carolina League All-Stars #22 Matt Foster

8/1 CHW: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 1 K (W)

A surprisingly strong contributor out of Chicago's pen, Foster was 4-0 in August and ultimately finished with a share of the club's wins lead at six.

67. 2019 Bowman - Prospects #BP-39 Franklyn Kilome

8/1 NYM: 4 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 2 ER, 5 K (GF)

68. 2018 Grandstand Springfield Cardinals SGA #NNO Andy Young

8/1 ARI: defensive replacement

After not receiving a place appearance in his debut, Young came off the bench in his second contest and went 2-2 with a double and a run scored.

69. 2017 Choice Carolina Mudcats #29 Cody Ponce

8/2 PIT: .1 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 K (L)

Ponce took the hard luck loss after coming in in the 11th for Pittsburgh thanks to the new batter on second rule for extra innings. In the rotation for the first time later in the month, Ponce fired 5.2 scoreless to earn his first Majors win.

Great work.  It does look like someone is missing though.  I can't tell who, but 212 players debuted in 2020, and this list includes 211 ....
