How about Mike Tyson? | ||
In a Met forum I'm on, the former All-Star and once highest paid pitcher Kevin Brown was brought up recently, and a member jokenly said "are you sure you don't mean the Kevin Brown who pitched briefly for the Mets?" https://www.tradingcarddb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/137/cid/63577/1990-Bowman-127-Kevin-Brown That caused me to remind me about a sports radio call that reminded me of a perfect example of shoddy radio research. Brown was in midst of a hot stretch with the Rangers in the early 1990s (most likely his All-Star season of 1992), and someone called WFAN to complain to the host (I want to say Richard Neer) about how the Mets had "let this guy go" because he recalled that the Mets had "Kevin Brown" a few years earlier. The host said they'd look up to see how the Mets lost the Kevin Brown that was currently hot for the Rangers, and have that info by the end of the show. They never did! *rolls eyes* https://www.tradingcarddb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/594/cid/135600/1995-Topps-410-Pedro-A.-Martinez
There's also Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Bob Gibson: https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/95/cid/40972/1984-Donruss-246-Bob-Gibson
https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/66241/cid/4637431/1995-Upper-Deck-Minors-35-Terry-Bradshaw ...I've got one of these cards autographed - by Terry, not football Terry https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/3220/cid/809796/1969-Topps-115-Randy-Johnson ...hmmm, that's a big brown baseball, thought he was a lefty? ...what's in a name? That which we call a (Pete) Rose, by another name would swing as sweet.
Would various Srs or Jrs through the years count?
Wrong team for the well known guy, but odd seeing a team centered around the same controversy! https://www.tradingcarddb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/89/cid/24366/1982-Topps-218-Dave-Roberts
How about 2007 Topps #262 Ryan Braun RC or any of his other cards in here, when the MVP winning Braun wasn't a pariah, the mixing with Ryan Z. Braun was a headache. Similar list here: https://www.tradingcarddb.com/List.cfm/lid/8946/Same-Name-...-Different-Person?C=1
Would TV characters count? I.e. Ryan Howard, BJ Novak's character on The Office.
| ||
2018 Topps Derek Fisher. The retired basketball player wanted to try his hand at baseball. Just kidding. https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/155909/cid/11364491/2018-Topps-416-Derek-Fisher
There is also a Joe Smith in basketball, and a Joe Smith Jr. in Boxing
